Try getting a sciatic nerve block injection or a series of epidural shots if it turns out you have a herniation of some sort. Cortisone shots never worked for me either.
It doesn't sound like you have a true addiction to narcotics. Your symtoms sounded generic and you said "I think I was addicted" That doesn't mean that you weren't or it couldn't get much worse. The longer you take addictive narcotics, the more addicted your brain becomes. all the best
What was the most painful thing? The cortisone shot? That did hurt, but while they were doing that I kept thinking of my brother who has colon cancer and has gone thru hell, so, I thought I could just "suck it up", you know? Now I am back on 4-6 vics a day for the back. What is kaiser?
thats bizarre they usually do the MRI first. I have kaiser and they did that to me and it was the most painful thing I ever went through in my life..............
I was on them on and off for a couple of years for pain and when i would stop, i thought i had the flu. Just felt crummy. It passed after 3or 4 days.
But, then it got to where i couldn't stop. Those withdrawals are so bad.
Sounds like you are doing great tapering back. Good for you. I was unable to do it, so ended up in a suboxone study clinic and the sub was great, but then when i was tapered off of it I was a mess then as well. Not as bad as cold turkey with the hydro codone, but not good. I never had depression like I did with that for a few days. And the anxiety was murder. It will be 4 weeks on Sat. since my last sub and my anxiety is getting much better but still there at times. Good luck to you. Just don't take more than you have to. Take as few as you can, in other words. Try hot baths to relieve your pain or a hot tub if you have one. I don't think you are in trouble with them at this point, but it can happen and i am living proof of that. Take care and keep posting. TJack
I was up to 8/day, then tapered down to 2/day for the last week. I've been taking them since July of this year. I have a feeling that they may be prescibed again. I think I was addicted because when I didn't take that 8/day, I was shaky, of course got the runs, and 1 or 2 vics would stop all that. I was also in a perpetual bad mood when I was taking that many pills.
So sorry to hear that news that your back is even worse than initially thought.
If you have gone 2 days without vicodin and aren't in withdrawals, you must not have been addicted. I have never heard of no w/d after 2 days. How many were you taking a day and for how long? TJack
