Day 3 Cold Turkey....Scared

Hi all,
I'm at day 3 cold turkey from 160-240 mg oxycontin/oxycodone IM a day and I'm scared.....so far it has gone well, except the total inability to sleep.  I can't sing the praises of the Thomas recipe along with clonodine and valium enough. I tried to detox last week without the program and died in pain and gave up after 4 excrutiating hours.  This is doable....and I've even done it with my former boyfriend/drug dealer calling every 4 hours wanting to bring me free pills.
I absolutely cannot sleep. Does anyone have any ideas....I could use some encouragement today. The pills were my best friend and I'm kinda lost without them. I wake up every morning and before I can think, I start to reach for one, then I realize I threw them away......obsession is a bad thing. Thanks all andhave a good day. Pray I get through today. I've heard it is the hardest.

you are doing great- 160-240/mg is a hell of alot of oxy to go cold turkey on. In addition, the calls to give you free pills must make it alot tougher for you

as far as passing the bar on oxy- i have done some of my best analytical work on the stuff as well as interacting with clients

2 thumbs up to ya!!

I made it through Day 3......I think I'm more excited than the day I passed the bar (which I took on oxycontin.....and passed......and they say we aren't functional....the sleep is killing me but I'll make it......I have to watch the benzos.....I used to enjoy those a bit too much in the past as well......maybe that's why they aren't having the effect on me I need. oh well.......thanks to all!!!! This would be impossible w/o you.

Again, thanks for your special words of encouragement. Yes, it has been hard with the calls offering free pills.....but it's no different for all of us.....if we want them, they aren't that hard to get...I'm going to try the advil p.m. tonight and my fabulous friend brought me some herbal stuff: valerian root. She swears it works. I'll give it a try as well......Tomorrow will be Day 4! I can't wait.

You have to keep telling yourself that this is the hardest part and it will pass.  I have been reading your posts and you should be proud of every minute of being sober.  It is not an easy thing to do to say the least.  You keep that fighting attitude - it will get you through.  Do not give up!  You sound like a tough cookie - you can beat this!

As far as sleeping - the benzo's should help.  Maybe try them with tylenol pm.

You are doing great and Im glad the Thomas Recipe is helping you.   Like Shel said, the benzos should help and I have also heard from a few people that Advil PM helps with sleep.  I havent tried it, I use tylenol pm but some people said it worked for them.

Hang in there hun, you are almost over the worst!
