It it usually a two step process. The first is to get the tooth ready for the crown. You will get a temporary crown that is glued down until the real crown has been made. They will take a fitting for the crown piece to be sent off to be made. I am in that process now. I lost the temp. and since I was not having any pain I have left it alone and will go back next week to have the crown finished. No pain meds for any of it. I hope all goes well.
Ok. Deep breath taken. I will try not to stress. I will also just take motrin.
Who am I kidding, I can't have those pills in my house without obsessing over them. I know i'm not that strong, yet. I will just tell them like I told the ER, whether true or not, "The pain isn't that bad, I don't need anything."
Thanks Ricart! and everyone else for your support, thank you always.
Hey you are doing great and please do not stress about it.I like I said have had 4 crowns and 3 root canals and have never been offered pain meds or needed them for any of these procedures. The only time I was given pain pills was for an abcessed tooth.I could have made it through that also without them. Please don't worry otc meds will do just fine.
Dang... Ok, well I can't stress off it until it's here right? March 1st 7am, California time... Check in on me. Right now, i'm saying i'll take a motrin and say no to the script... I did have a root canal once, which turned out really bad and gave me an infection and dry socket, which was so painful.. but I was popping pills then and didn't think twice... I guess i'll have to wait and find out... If for some reason they do give it to me, and I think I do need it... Although, I haven't told my husband I'm addicted to pain killers, I can tell him to hold them for me, as I don't want to become addicted... That's kind of the truth right.... OH man i'm stressed about it already! Ok i'm going to tell them not to give them to me, i'll tough it out. Motrin 800 will be my best friend that week.
I have never had any major dental work done so I don't have experience w/ this myself but I have heard some ppl day that when they had a crown done, it was painful for 2-3 days and others that have said its not anything that OTC pain meds doesn't fix.
I know that my Mom has had crowns done and the dentist automatically called in a script for her every time.
Ok good! Well I was able to say no to the ER doc last week when I had severe chest pain, so as long as the pain is gone pretty soon after, I know I can say No then.
I was starting to get anxiety about it. I had a plan though, I was going to give them to my husband to give at appropriate times.. I thought the procedure was like surgery.. but if the pain is gone, then I can tough through it, I know it.
Thank you!
I have had a few crowns and none of them required pain meds.Once you get the procedure over there is no real pain.Do not let them talk you into pain meds.I went to the dentist and she tried to give me pain meds and I said no and I lived.
