lortab

How do I know if I am addicted to my lortabs and somas? I was prescribed them by my doctor for back pain to take together. They help my back. But I read stories of people and their addictions and I think, "oh that is not me". But how do i know?

I just wanted to say thank you for your reply and i do not mind that it is long. What i meant was that i take like 3/4 throughout the day not all at once. I don't tend to run out but the time it is due to be refilled. I know i take them for back pain but i feel like sometimes i just take them for the stress that is brought on by work.

I am a very addictive person. If it is not one thing it is another. I do not like xanax. i used to drink a lot but just all of a sudden didn't want to anymore. I got to the point where i knew i was just drinking to relax and wine down after a long work week. But why do that when i can just take a tab and a soma and not have to worry about hangovers? I have been addicted to other sorts of drugs but never to the point where i needed help to get off of them. I just knew i had to distance myself from the drug or the people that brought it into my life then i would be ok. I think i just rationalize with myself that the tabs are ok because the doctor gave them to me and my back really does hurt. And a lot sometimes.

I have had a gastric bypass so at first i was even too scared to take the tabs and try to work but now i have no problem. But i try not to take the soma while working cause i need to still be up on my game while there. Like today i am off work. My back hurt when i woke up and i can relax and just hang with no worries so i take the tab and the soma and just sit back.

I gues i could say that i tend to take 4/5 tabs a day on average. But i know if i go without them i am on edge and stressed out.

Thank you for all your advice and i am sorry about your mother.

Unfortunately, going by what you posted my friend you show all the signs of being addicted or at least dependent. If you are consistantly taking more than prescribed in day, than you have developed a tolerance and facing not very happy times in the future. Are you taking the first three or four at once or do you mean through out your day at work? If you have several days before you can get a refill and are out of pills, thats not good either. Lying to pharmacies and docs to get the pills you need is not a good sign. Thats the trade off for these drugs they are the worst/best things to be invented. My friend is 21 has a three yr old boy, and pills run her entire life. She takes Vicodin/Lortab, about 16 or so a day, and still functions, sometimes. She is very good to her son but could do much much better. When she doesn't have any she is is so sad and depressed, she will do anything to get some, its sad.

I posess much experience with addiction to quite a few things, mainly the pills though. I have not yet taken Soma, my mom was on those and she abused them...well...she abused every drug, even Nyquil sometimes. I have been raised by two addicts and I am one, so I do know some stuff...more than I want too. My mom though was the category of she was just emotionally miserable that she was just out of it all of the time. You couldn't hold a conversation with her because she would have no idea what she was talking about. She had such a high tolerance that she would take her extremely strong sleep meds and stay awake in a dream state that a couple times she damb near set herself on fire, set the house on fire, she fell down the stairs broke her arm twice, she totalled out five cars in four years, and then paid the ultimate sacrafice...her life. She took a prescribed med called methadone (synthetic heroin) for two weeks and one day she didn't wake up. I had no idea she was even taking it, doc gave to her for pain management, she had quite a few health problems. None that would of taken her life like addiction did.

My addiction is more physical and in my head because a lot of the times when I took Vicodin ES, I took less then what was prescribed. I still did what I had to with or without them, I might off bit your head off but I still did it! lol! Two weeks ago, I realized my bottle looked more empty than it would at that point. After counting and doing the math, I had found myself to have taken 6-10 for about three days in a row. Granted, I have legitimate chronic pain, but that many pills is out of control! My pain has increased but I didn't realize it was that bad.

I went to my doc, and told him, kind of. Very understanding, and put me on something stronger. I was uneasy about it due to me enjoying the happiness/euphoric feeling I liked when just taking vicodin. A stronger drug means a stronger warm/fuzzy/euphoric feeling. I am on the 10mg Lortab at three times a day, It is bittersweet because unfortunately they don't help pain much better than vics, and I don't know why but I am not experiencing the euphoria even being it is the same active ingredients just less tylenol, thats good though, and it isn't bothering me not having the euphoric feeling. I haven't had any Vics in quite a few days and I only take two Lortabs a day.

Wow! I typed a lot, I am so sorry! I just want to help you as much as I can and help answer your questions. You can ask me anything, I will be honest and answer to the best of my abilities. Feel free to ask personal questions about my experiences or what not, it helps me to hopefully help you!!

Have A Blessed Day!!!

I take them pretty much all day. Maybe 3 - 4 before i get off work then right after work i will take one with a soma at the house. So I guess that would be like 5 or 6 tabs a day.... i do not miss one unless i am just out of them. Then i feel really cranky and irritated at most people around me... My back will hurt a lot, or more than usual and sometimes i feel weak or just crampy... and even congestive...

so what do you think
