prescription confidentiality

Does anybody know if when you go for a biopsychosocial interview if they can get information from your insurance regarding your recent prescription activity?

The test he is getting ready to take is very sophisticated.  And they are checking for 7 different recreational drugs.  How long does Lortab stay in the system?  Today he had 5mg (the last day of his weaning), and he has the interview Tuesday.  Will he be clean?

Legally they will not make a hiring decision based on medical info. Aside from that I don't think they can obtain it. They could ask you to take a drug test but that's about it

I passed two of those ;) most of those don't check for hydro or oxy. Needs to be a really sophisticated test

Why don't you get someone to call your physcians office and ask them about their confidentiality policies....I am sure that such records must remain confidential however, if asked to share with a connected agency etc. there must be a protocol established and you will then learn what it is. Also during the job interview process if there is any paperwork given make sure it does not give permission to them to gain such information. Most job interviews want information to contact references but medical records no way would I sign it. I would politiely suggest if they want such information that you would be happy to provide them with a document from your doctor so that you can be in control of what is said or offer to have a physical if needed. Sometimes new insurances such as health, life want physcials and ask such questions as they do not want to insure anyone at risk. Good luck

Honestly,

I'm not sure about it but I belive HIPPA doesn't allow the release of such records due to confidentiality.
I am off work for a severe disavility & I sent my most recent letter from the Dr. to our Human Resources person and she told me that I should not provide them with ANY such documentation that shows meds, diagnosis, etc.

I am only to provide proof of the Dr.'s treatment & proof that I am using my disability insurance.
Perhaps he could check with his Dr. to reassure him or give him some good advice.
We should not have to pay for the rest of our lives because of an addiction.
Just like a criminal, he has more than served his time.

I wish him the very best and hope that all goes well with the interview !

Peace

Medical records are confidential. If the meds are prescribed, then he has no problems anyway.

Yea, it's for a job interview.  My dad has been taking Lortab for 8 months and recently weaned himself.  He has an interview next week and is worried about the UA as well as the possibility that the interviewer could have access to his Rx activity via the insurance company.

Is this for a job interview ?

I am asking for my own knowledge because I don't know the answer to your question &
I will be interviewing for new jobs in approximately 1&/12 - 2 months and I want to be prepared.

If my potential emplyers can see my prescription activity I'm screwed.

Please tell us a little more tennypro.
