Mcain VP daughter is pregnant

What do you think about this she is 17 unmarried hummmmmmm??? Sounds like to me they fit right in with the average american family. Its not uncommon these days for this to happen shocked by it yes. I dont think it will hurt his campaign in the long run. Maybe they will preach to these young kids who want to be grown. We sure need that this day and time. I have a 12 yr old and she is into boys I tell you what dont think I dont preach to her all the negatives about it.

I think back to the times when my parent's married.  She was only 14 years old and my dad was 17 a high school drop out.  They had their first son when she was 17 and the next son when she was 20.  Then here I come when she is 36.  They were married for 62 years before he died this year.  It was hard on them getting married young, but they made a wonderful life for themselves, and I hardly ever remember a time when I didn't get something I wanted or needed.  Daddy had a stroke when he was 46 that left him totally paralyzed on his left side and put him in a wheelchair.  I watched as that small woman of barely 120 pounds put this 6'3"  man in bed every night and get him up every morning.  She did this for 38 years until she was put in the hospital on life support because she had been sick with pneumonia and wouldn't go to the doctor.  She went from the time I was born until I was 39 years old without ever seeing a doctor.  She put her life on hold to take care of him.  That is what I call love and devotion.  They took their marriage vows seriously and I can only hope and pray that I am able to spend 62 years with the love of my life.

Too many these days give up when the going gets tough rather than working it out.  I have actually heard a bride say on her wedding day mind you, "If it doesn't work out this time, I want my next wedding to be like ..."  I have loved my girls with all my hearts, but I have tried to teach them not to give up on things.  For example, my oldest got tired of softball at one point because she wasn't doing well.  She wanted to quit after the second game.  I told her she was committed to play for the summer and then she could decide the next year what she wanted to do.  She is so glad we did that because she stuck with it and is an awesome athlete.  She has been in all-stars every year that she played except one and has been named all-district every year for her high school years.  

I guess what I am trying to say is that I wish more kids today would take responsibility for their choices rather that letting mommie and daddy bail them out. That being said, if my child came to me and told me she was pregnant, I would never turn my back on her.  I would help her with the child while she finished her education, but I would sit back and babysit while she went to dances and on dates.  I think if they want the responsibilty of having sex at a young age, they need to accept the consequences of their choices.  

Ok, I know I am going to get flogged for this post, but I will have to defend myself tomorrow, I am cutting this thing off before the electricity goes out.  We are flickering now.

Babies are an inheritance from God!  This could have turned out different.
One of my friends son was in the same possition at the same age and after the baby was born she told me they may be young but in her eyes it was the greatest thing to be a Grandmother.  That always stuck in my mind, you could see the joy in her eyes, genuine love.  It forever left a memory in my mind that I will never forget.  I strongly feel things happen for a reason and it won't effect people vote.

I don't have a problem with the girls situation. I'm sure things will work out for her.  But I don't beleive for a second that any of them knew about it. I think the girl just told her mother and they're dealing with the problem the best way they can. I don't think McCain would have picked her if he knew about this. And I don't think Sarah Palin would have accepted the position if she knew and put her daughter threw all the scrutiny of the media etc. What kind of mother would do that to her daughter? So now she has 5 kids, 1  whos only months old with special needs and a teenage daughter whos pregnant and unmarried (yes, getting married at 17).  This woman obviously puts her career before her family.

I do have to give Obama kudous for saying that families are off limits in the election process. According to reports I have read he has told his people so and is pleading to the press to do the same.

My grandpa used to say there are 2 types of people  those who get caught and those who dont!!!!  He said the hormones were no different when he was a kid then when i was.  Too bad we cant find out some dirt on the reporters!!!!!

My daughter found out she was pg in college.  I wasnt real happy about the fact life was going to be tough for her but i was extremely happy about the grandma thing.  9 months later my pride and joy entered this world.  My family has been very supportive of her and my grandson.  Others havent been.  I hope they leave this girl alone.  The children really dont have any place in elections but the media will be all over this.        sara

Yes it was harder for my wife but as we look back God does work in mysterious ways. Had we had a child she may not of finished school or went to college I am glad she did.

I know some people are looking to see how she is going to handle this situation, but I don't think she was chosen because she had a pregnant daughter.  I also don't think MCain is going to use it to his advantage.  If he was going to use something to his advantage, I think he would have chosen the fact that the VP has a child with down's syndrome and chose not to abort it.  

I think we put way too much emphasis on the families of these candidates.  I would hate for things to fast forward and one day my son-in-law be running for a governmental position and people use the fact that his mother-in-law (me) was a former drug addict.

We need to focus on the issues that really impact us as a country and I don't really think that is one of them.

I do understand the reason for your question and I am not saying it shouldn't be asked.  You asked for our opinions and as always I give mine freely.

I feel for you and what you went through.  My hubby (also my only boyfriend) and I found ourselves in a similiar situation.  Right after graduation I took a preg test that showed positive.  We made an appointment to see the doctor and had discussed what we were going to do.  We decided we had been together for 4 years and knew we would eventually get married so we would just push the plans ahead a little.  3 days before my doctor appointment I had to go to the doctor because of cramping and hurting.  They never did a DNC or said I was or wasn't pregnant before that day, just that I wasn't at that time.  Either way my hubby and I have been together since 1981 and have had 2 beautiful daughters and also had to tragic miscarriages.  I guess God knows what is best for us and takes care of us in His own timetable.

Its funny because I got my wife pregnant at 16 wow her dad hit the Finggg roof he was threatening me and all. I stepped up and was a man about it so we went to the dr and the dr said something wasnt right so she had to have a DNC done. Now fast forward to 2001 we are now married she is thru with college and guess what we get pregnant planned this time. So we told her dad I was scared because of the helll from before that I went thru. He said well you are married but it will be tough being you are out of college and just gettin married. He just had no respect for us. So one night he comes over after Colby was born and he starts his mess up and says something to me he should of never said. He said that baby in there was a MISTAKE he should not be here. It hurt me very bad he would say this.


Fast forward 7 yrs and guess what to this day I dont let him live it down. He tells me he was wrong and he never knew Colby would love him sooooo much and that hes brought him thru some hard times. Isnt it funny I say never say something you might regret later my son was never a mistake he was gods gift to me and my wife.

So when Carmen came along lets just say we didnt here the negative he wont cross that line again

My parents were very supportive but they were hurt I think they new that it was going to make life harder for me ...it did in someways but she is the best thing in the world she is so smart and kind and a great girl she goes to college next years so I know I did something right .

Again I think he is going to use this as an advantage to his campaign somehow someway. I am not against pregnacy if my kid came to me I would support her I would be hurt but I know in my heart I would help all I could.

Being that I got pregnant with my daughter when I was unmarried and in college I guess I dont tend to judge others .I do know however that at 2 it was hard to be a single parent at 17 has to be very rough I hope she has a good support system.
