salt craving

I was just reading the community forum and many people  said they crave salt.  I do too.  It is almost uncontrollable.  I have a history of opiate use but not currently.  What do you think causes this craving?

i have craved salt since  chilhood often punished for eating out of salt cellar or over ice. over the years i also suffered digestive problems and rapid heart rate but no hypertention  and intolerance to vitamins and glucose. wheat often out of control and insomnia. any ideas for these symptoms would be appreciated also suffer anemia in last 10 yrs.

opiates actually mess with your hormones I have found out recently, A flux of cortisol or steroids(or are they both? lol) can make you crave salt. That is my guess.
