Allergic to my own beard

Is it possible to be allergic to my own facial hair. I have had a beard for over 15 years. Recently I developed a severely red itchy rash on my chin and face. So I shaved my beard off and treated the rash with moisturizer and in two days it was gone. It stayed gone for about a week until my beard started filling back in, Then the rash came back just as bad as before. Once again I shaved and moisturized and in two days it was gone again, A week later its back. Am I doomed to be clean shaven. Please let me know if anyone out there has ever heard of this condition.

I would love feedback on this. Recently I have developed red itchy watery eyes, I think its to do with my beard I started growing one for the first time in my 34 years. Could it be an allergic reaction to the beard?

Hi
Welcome to the MedHelp forum!
Most common cause of beard rash is seborrhagic dermatitis which is a type of fungal infection. Hydocortisone creams can help. The other possibility is body or hair lice causing rash.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
