Dizzy Spells

Does anyone else in the world feel as miserable as me!!! I know in my heart things could be so much worse, but I suffer from giddy spells (usually when sinusitis is on its way) and living with this day in, day out, I have long forgotten what it feels like to feel normal and feel like me again.  I had septoplasty done about 8 years ago and for 3 or 4 years things were absolutely marvellous.  I looked and felt well and was able to make all sorts of plans. For the last 4 years my sinusitis has returned and after anti-biotics I am Okish for about 4 or 5 weeks, but as now, it is making a come back ie snuffly, not blocked but watery nose, sore throat, constantly clearing my throat, clicking jaw, clicking/ripping feeling in my ears when I move my jaw, itchiness and hot feeling in my right ear, bleeding when I blow my nose, pain front right sinus, very sensitive to noise (even after using my Dyson for about 5 mins it feels like I've been in a disco for hours!) and of course being off balance.... stumbling, probably looking drunk and feeling it.  I can deal with the pain, the bad taste and the smell of rotting flesh (sorry) but I so HATE being dizzy it interferes with everything. Going to the dentist, driving, having my hair done and I dont want to plan days out or holidays abroad in case it is a really "bad" day.  I am seeing the Consultant again 29th March.  Last time I saw him it was a case of keep taking the anti biotics (I have them every 5 or 6 weeks), can't have another op as it is too close to my brain and would I like to go to a pain management clinic?!  No thanks, just help me get my balance back to normal.  Please, if anyone else experiences this, please get in touch as it drives me mad most days.  Many thanks

Hello and hope you are doing well.

If you do have a chronic sinus infection, typical antibiotic treatment is for 4-6 weeks.  A nasal steroid spray is also beneficial as well as oral steroids.  Nasal saline irrigations over the counter like NeilMed or Neti pot are very effective.  The best diagnosis for this problem is a CT of the sinuses.  Surgery is recommended to patients that fail maximal medical treatment.

Sinus infections can cause dizziness, as inflammation in the nose and sinuses can cause inflammation around the Eustachian tube, which is the tube that runs from the back of the nose to the middle ear and is responsible for draining the middle ear of fluid.  If there is Eustachian tube dysfunction from nose or sinus inflammation, fluid can remain in the middle ear which can lead to dizziness. So, to resolve this sinusitis has to be effectively treated.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted.

Thank you for that.  Not sure what you mean by heavy metals test?

I get some of this but not as badly as you have described I am certain that mine is allergies, and caused by environmental issues ..Check out what is being sprayed around you..many toxins are in our atmosphere and in our soil and ground water. We have a lot in The US and I know the UK is also being bombarded .Do some research online. You can also ask your doctor to do a heavy metals test .
