My chronic cough that i had for years went away after taking nexium for 6 weeks. it was such a relief, i coughed so hard i sounded like i had whooping cough most of my life.
Your dry tickle may be a symptom of acid reflex. Try a dose of Prilosec for 14 days and I bet your symptoms will disappear. Mine did!
Hi, welcome to the forum, first condition to be ruled out is bacterial throat infection like streptococcal, staphylococcal, Bronchiectasis and Fungal infections. This can be associated with postnasal drip and throat clearing. This can in turn irritate the throat lining.
Another strong possibility is acid reflux. You should stop taking spicy food, vinegar, alcohol, cigarette smoking if present. A 24hrs gastric pH and urease breath test with upper GI endoscopy will help to substantiate diagnosis.
Antacids and proton pump inhibitors will reduce the acidity for which consult a physician.
The other possibilities are hyperplastic tonsil, abnormal upper esophageal sphincter function, stress or psychological abnormality causes this sensation due to altered upper esophageal pressure. You may need to undergo endoscopic evaluation.
Firstly I suggest you to consult ENT surgeon for possible causes and further management. Take care and regards.
Could it be post-nasal drip. Try taking large doses of vitamin B5 to thin the mucus and reduce the inflammation.
