Rash

I started to get this rash about 3 weeks ago.. It comes and goes.  My skin will start to itch and when I scratch it, it starts to get welty and rashy and blotchy and then the skin feels hot and tingly.
It seems to be more prominent at night time but can also come anytime of the day.  I finally went to a dr and he gave me the steroid pack starting with 6 pills the first day, then 5 the second and so on and also an anti itch pill 10 mg.  but it seems to work a little but when the itch pill wears off I can get itchy again.. It seems to be on my arms and back and sometimes the tops of the thighs.  I am baffled at this and dont know what it is.. I have been researching on the internet and cant really find what it can be. I am not eating or meds any different.. I even changed my detergent to a hypoallergenic detergent thinking maybe it was that.  Oh I forgot, sometimes I get chills and then it starts to itch too.. has anyone had anything similar to this or know what this is ???????????

PS I have been to 2 Doctors here in CA they just give you antihistimines that knock you out almost and topical creams, none of the OTC stuff works and I have been told you dont get adequate answers from the Allergists just a Huge Bill.

I know how tinkyan feels I have it also mine came on after Dental work I have considered I was allergic to the Anesthetic Lidocaine, I have had it several weeks now, I also have thought maybe the Material in the root canal/posts may have triggered it. My question to anyone who may know is,How long would the Anesthetic saty in your Body for you to still weeks later be getting a reaction,I am thinking of having the root canal removed.

Hi,

This isnt likely to be due to armour since you say you were already taking it for one year before the rash. But you could still see if the rash goes and comes with stopping and restarting the drug.

Do let us know what your dermatologist says.

Regards.

I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH A DERMATOLOGIST FOR MONDAY..I WILL KEEP YOU POSTED WITH WHAT HE SAYS.  I DID CALL MY ENDOCRINOLOGIST AS I AM ON ARMOUR THYROID AND WITH FIGURING OUT EVERYTHING, THAT IS ONE OF THE DRUGS I AM ON..I HAVE BEEN ON IT FOR AROUND A YEAR ( PRIOR I WAS ON SYNTHROID) WENT TO ARMOUR BECAUSE I THOUGHT IT WAS MORE IDENTICAL TO THE BODY. HE TOLD ME TO STOP THE MEDS FOR 5 DAYS AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS.. THEN TAKE THEM AGAIN AND SEE IF THE RASH STARTS AGAIN. .TODAY IS DAY ONE WITHOUT THE ARMOUR. BUT LIKE IS SAID TOMORROW I AM GOING TO THE DERMATOLOGIST. ANY COMMENTS ON MAYBE THIS CAUSING THE RASH???

Hi,

You should take antiallergic or antihistamine medications for a few days and apply calamine lotion at the lesions to help soothe the itching.

If the lesions do not subside and the symptoms continue after a few days, you should reconsult your doctor.

Ask him/her if a consultation with an allergy specialist or dermatologist is required.

Do let us know how  you are doing.

Hope this helps.

Good luck.
