I have a sudden onset severe pain in my finger.

I have diagnosed osteo arthritis in my lumbar spine and knees. I suddenly noticed a severe pain in the R first finger PIP joint. Motrin doesn't touch it. Heated water with mag sulfate soaks relieve it very temporarily and liniment has no effect. Last night I began to feel the pain in my right thumb. It is a constant pain. I hate to bother the doctor with this if I need to just suck it up and move along.
