Vimto cordial

Not a food I know but I didn't know where else to put it!

Anyways I've been having poo that's halfway from diarrhoea to normal stools for about 3months. I went on holiday and my stools were fine but 2hours after getting home I had watery stools again. How weird? I decided that I'd eaten the same but not had Vimto cordial or be around my dog. Not wanting it to be the dog I stopped drinking Vimto for a week and hey presto my stools were fine again almost instantly. Just to make sure I had a drink of Vimto today (my last ever I think) and sure enough around 4hours later my stool was watery again!

The questions:
What is it in Vimto that I'm most likely allergic too?
What kind of allergy is it that affects the bowls(which I presume I'm affected by)?
Is there anything I can do to not be allergic to it/stop the symptoms?
Why would this allergy develop as I've been drinking Vimto w/o trouble from a toddler (I'm now 17)?-hormone related?

Hello and hope you are doing well.

It could indicate a food allergy. As repeated episodes have occurred with consumption of the same food. Allergic reactions are mediated by IgE antibodies, which are released on exposure to a particular allergen. These in turn activate mast cells and lead to a local response or systemic anaphylaxis. It can occur at anytime. It may help to maintain a food dairy and keep monitoring your symptoms. This will help to narrow the search and avoid them. Further allergic testing may be worth looking into. Here an allergy specialist may confirm the allergic reaction and can further help to desensitize you.

Hope this helped and do keep us posted

Thanks! At the moment I've just stopped drinking Vimto and everythings normal stool wise, nothing else seems to have bought it on. Just seems really weird because I'd have thought it would be one ingredient I'm allergic to which would be in other things?
