Acne

I have been dealing with acne since i was 13 and therez no end to it even now .... after so many anti boitic courses to herbal meds to over the counter creams .... i tried accutance , 40 mg for 8 mnths ....  Accutane magically cleared my skin ... free of acne ,,,, but my Skin only stayed Acne free for a year... I started to have break outs ... face and body ... Frustrated ... I was suggested to take another course of Accutane which i did , another 6 mnths which lead to another acne free year .... and NOw my Acne is back again .... and I dont know wat to do abt it .... COnsidering the high risks associated wd accutane ... Im scared to even think wat a 3rd course will do to my left over hair frm the 1st two sessions..... Im again on an antiboitic course ... which aint much help ... I would really appreciate sme help , also whether a 3rd course of accuntane is wise? or if therez any other treatment..

I'm not telling you I know how to fix this, but all these antibiotics just make it worse as they kill off the beneficial bacteria that live in your intestines.  I'd be surprised if you didn't have a chronic yeast overgrowth by now.  Acne can be caused by different things -- hormones, reactions to diet, emotions, etc.  But skin problems are generally thought of in natural medicine as the liver releasing toxins.  I can't guarantee this would help, but I'd get out of the allopathic medical community and head for a naturopath.  I'd start with a liver cleanse, see about your hormonal levels, look at your diet, and the like.  Take some strong refrigerated probiotics to replenish your beneficial bacteria.  Right now you're in a loop that antibiotics cause and until you get yourself out of that loop you can't move forward.  Good luck.

For teen-agers or adults with acne, 30 milligrams of zinc (as picolinate or citrate) taken
one to three times daily according to the severity of the problem.  For general skin health, 15 to 30
milligrams daily is usually sufficient. Zinc should usually be offset with a small quantity of copper,
approximately 1 milligram for each 15 milligrams of zinc
Buy these at any health food store. What ever  probiotic product you buy make sure it's the type that has to be refrigerated as per Paxiled above statement.

I have had persistent acne for most of my life. I never found anything that helped, but there was plenty that made it worse. Anything that stimulated my skin - sun - hot water - cold water - facial massage - soap - antiseptics - astringents. For about 40 years the only cleansing my face ever got was rinsing gently with cool water. I had dermabrasion in my thirties. It was great. The surgeon literally sand-papered my face. New pink skin without scars. I always meant to have it done again and maybe I will.

I had terribe acne rosacea for about 5 years. Homeopathy and supplements have basically cleared it up. I have beautiful skin now. ;)

I think gut health is highly significant. Like the others I'd recommend probiotics, zinc is good too, evening primrose oil is another worth trying. Find a practitioner to guide you and be prepared for it to take time and to make changes to your diet. - knock out white flour and sugar if you can and if you don't already eat a lot of fruit and veg, , try and start to, I'd be surprised if you didn't start to see a difference. drinking prune juice etc can help too.

like you I took antibiotics and my skin was beautiful, I was really happy, then it just got bad again. that stuff doesn't give a sustained solution. Creams can be soothing but you need to get to the bottom of the problem and I personally believe that lies in gut health.

I spent a fortune on expensive skin care routines and now realise they were not the answer.

good luck!!

A plastic surgeon once told me that that I should take a sterile needle an pierce the tiny cysts on my face. I had cystic acne. He was the doctor who did the very gentle dermabrasion, using sandpaper. No crusts, leaking, or oozing. No pain. I just had to stay out of the sun for a while and nice new pink unblemished skin was the result. If I have it done again I will not have a chemical peel. (I had the dermabrasion while the acne was still active. You can do that.)
