Miss Diagnosis

I believe there is definately a good possiblity that my mother in law was diagnosed with Alzheimers just because it was an easy diagnosis....however, within 3 months of my overtaking her care I saw before my eyes an extreme transformation into a bright, smiley, enjoying life woman.  She had lost her husband of 65 years and had become extremely depressed and the care she was under brought much fear to her....after 1 year she was given the MMSE test and her memory had not deteriorated at all...I have been researching possible causes for her short term memory loss, which was much of the time, selective, I have reason to believe that she suffered from Pseudo Dementia...Can you refer me to any medical studies or documented information on this subject....

Not on that specific subject, but on the subject of short-term memory loss I may be helpful. In was in a double-blind study many years ago for gingko biloba. If Alzheimer's is not involved, it will turn the patient around double quick. It has been used for decades in Europe and trials have been made ad nauseum. It works.

The question is why she losing memory. It could be depression. It could be insomnia (which is what it was in my case). It could even be something like a candida infestation, which someone claimed was true for his mother..

But definitely try the gingko. I was taking Ginkgold, a high quality product. If she has trouble sleeping, give it to her earlier in the day. It is vaguely stimulating. No enough to bother most people, but my problem was insomnia so I was susceptible. Good luck.
