Tests for early Alzheimer's?

I am 40 years old. Apparently I have been saying stuff, reading stuff, and doing stuff that I don't even remember doing! I am about in tears. My husband tells me this stuff. I have chiari malformation and I've had 2 brain surgeries.  I know that I don't have a good memory but I swear that I don't do or say the stuff he's claiming. Like for instance I've been waiting on an email and I've been checking for new ones. I didn't check yesterday afternoon, but my husband has access to my email.  Well he's been checking my email and claims that I read an email out loud. I don't remember seeing it or reading it to him. There is a reply to the person who sent it and says from my husband's name. He claims he picked a random one out to reply to.

Well we argued about it because I told him he must have read it himself and replied to it. He says I sat right here and read it outloud to him. I've been.waiting on.that answer from that person and I just don't remember it at all!  He keeps saying stuff I did or said and I swear up and down I didn't. I know he always puts me down & he has to be right all the time, because he's always talking over me and yelling. He argued with me big time over this. He's telling me I have a mental disorder.

I don't know what to do. Is there a test for early onset of Alzheimers or do you just think he's trying to make me think I'm crazy?

Hey toourlady89.

The weight gain from consuming Coconut Oil cannot be established,
when coconut oil is used as a replacement and NOT in addition to other
oils and fats already taken in the diet.
My intake is mostly from cooking with Coconut Oil, as I have replaced ALL cooking oils, including olive oil- I grew up in Crete where olive oil is so widely used, that I had a bit of a conflict at first- since cooking oils get chemically altered when heated and produce free radicals which leads to oxidation and inflammation processes.
These damaging processes lead to TNF-a (Tumor Necrosis Factor -Alpha), known to be linked to Alzheimer's Disease and other serious conditions.

Also because Coconut Oil is a medium chain fat, it does not get stored as fat, it gets processed through the liver and then used directly for energy, thus no insulin involvement and no load on the pancreas.
It will also boost metabolism.
I have many studies filed somewhere in my office on the above,
so if anyone is interested I can look for them.

Finally, I really recommend you use it for Oil Pulling daily!
Swish using a teaspoon every morning before breakfast for 20 minutes and then spit it out and rince really well!
It will safely remove billions of bacteria and toxins, residing in your oral cavity. Better down the drain, than seeping into your body, lol!
You oral health and hygiene will  improve DRASTICALLY as well.

It has done wonders for dozens of people in our little co-op.
The most remarkable effect, is the absence of infections and illness in  my family for many years and the increased mental aquity, that we all noticed with the consumption of coconut oil.

So, my opinion is definety yes, it deserves another serious try.

I will send you a message later regarding what you asked me.
It's  funny, I just  explained yesterday to a colleague, the biochemical aspects of acetylcholine defiencies, Aricept (for Alzheimer's and memory issues, prescibed med) limited efficiency, and ways to address this properly with supplementation.

Cheers!

I use the Magnesium Spray after shower. I leave it on till my next shower. I don't rinse it off. I prefer Ancient Minerals as its not as sticky as other brands. I used it a lot at the beginning for 6 months. Maybe I have enough Mg now that I don"t feel like I need it all the time.  It works really well for cramps.A family member stopped grinding teeth and snoring is diminished. Sleep is so much better. Definitely life changing.

I am careful about using VCO now. I used it before for hypothyroid- as they said, 1 tbsp three x a day.. I unfortunately gained 10 lbs. So I had to stop. That was a few years ago. I have recently restarted but not as regular. I use VCO for any soreness around the mouth, gums and teeth. Even works for sore throat.. How does it work for you ?

FYI.

Consider trying the magnesium oil-transdermal.  50/50 hot water and magnesium chloride flakes. (I purchase mine wholesale from the importer and resell  locally to the members of our co-op wellness club.)
Once cooled, transfer to plastic spray bottle.
High absorbtion rate and least costly method with no laxative effects!
The chloride part of it is very useful in the production of gastric acid.

. Apply/spray on your body-except on sensitive parts-leave on for 30 min to absorb and then shower to rinse it off.
I do this every other day or twice a week for maintenance. It feels really great!
Soaking works well too, but it becomes quite costly when done as suggested

B12, ensure it is only Methyl-Cobalamin, as the cheaper and usually the most commonyl prescribed type(why???)  Cyano-Cobalamin is potentially toxic!  search for "potassium cyanide gas".
Sublingual Methyl-Cobalamin drops,(it's an activated form) and best for fast absorption,is what I would suggest. It takes time to reach desired levels.
Oral B12 does not get absorbed when there's Intrinstic Factor insufficiency.

But please look into the Extra Virgin Organic Coconut Oil potential benefits.
It is  considered the brain's super fuel and it has shown great promise for
Alzheimer's prevention and treatment.
It is one of the top functional foods, with anti-fungal, anti-microbial, anti-parasitic and anti-viral properties and also excellent replacement for pro-inflammatory cooking oils, as it does not alter chemically with heat!
Visit the coconut research center for details.

If anyone needs any further details, please let me know.
I have been researching, using and recommending  the aforementioned
for many years!

Best wishes to all!
Niko

I heard that it is Vitamin B12 for help with memory and that a lot of elderly people are deficient in this vitamin.  The way to know if you are deficient of B12, apart from blood tests, is to observe the moons on the fingernails.  Apparently, the thumb moons are the last to disappear with B12 deficiency.

I like the sound of Mg Flakes for soaking.

Best wishes.

You could get Magnesium by consuming green foods, eating pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds  but not really enough to meet the daily required amount. Mg is one mineral that requires supplementation as it will be hard to get enough just from food. The other way of getting Mg is transdermal
- thru the skin. there is Mg Flakes for soaking or Spray.
I heard on Fox News that they recently have proven that Vit B is the most impt. vit. to protect from Alzheimers. Its better to get the Vit. B complex that has even amount of mg per Vitamin. B family.
Good Luck

Thanks.

My memory is poor with everything.
Do you know if we can actually consume it by eating any specific foods rather than taking tablets/capsules?

Best wishes.

Hi,
Other Magnesium supposedly would not cross the blood brain barrier, ( It could not go to the brain )
MIT found Mg L Threonate to be the only one that crosses the barrier to reach the brain and therefore, can increase Mg levels in the brain. I think and feel that it works. I got my memory back esp. for numbers - had difficulty with numbers the last 10 years. :) TG

Thanks for sharing that info with this.  I found it very interesting and as I could do with boosting my memory I shall look into it further with a view to purchasing some.

Would you know what the difference is between the normal magnesium and magnesium L-Threonate?

This is what I use and my memory has improved. You could get it from Amazon and on line stores.

Magnesium L-Threonate featuring Magtein.™ Developed by MIT researchers, with seven patents pending, Magtein is the only form of supplemental magnesium shown to cross the blood-brain barrier and raise magnesium levels within the brain. By raising the brain's magnesium levels, Magtein promotes healthy neuronal activity for the support of healthy cognitive functions like recall, learning, decision making and spatial recognition.
Magnesium and the Mind
Magnesium is one of the most important minerals in the body. As a cofactor in over 300 different enzymes, it does a lot of things for many organs and tissues. Scientists have been aware of magnesium's role in the brain for decades, but direct evidence of its role in cognitive functioning has been elusive—until now.

In preliminary research published in the prestigious journal Neuron in 2010, MIT researchers screened every available form of supplemental magnesium and demonstrated in an animal model that Magnesium L-Threonate—and only Magnesium L-Threonate—has the ability to cross into the brain and boost magnesium levels. In their experiments, this increase in brain magnesium concentrations resulted in observable benefits in key cognitive measures.

The study was among the most downloaded papers in that year and has led to further studies both here and abroad, in both experimental and human models, to confirm its results and further our understanding of the connection between magnesium and the mind.

How Scientists Think It Works
Conventional brain-supporting supplements work by stimulating neurons that may or may not be a little "worn out." This can lead to a short-term benefit, but the results are fleeting and more servings must be taken to maintain the effects. Furthermore, constant over-stimulation can lead to neuronal burnout, eventually producing the opposite of the intended result.

Magnesium L-Threonate works differently. By boosting magnesium levels within the brain, scientists believe Magnesium L-Threonate helps neurons maintain a state of healthy sustained activity—neither over-stimulated nor under-stimulated. One could say that Magnesium L-Threonate helps keep the brain firing on all cylinders. And, scientists believe, by maintaining this healthy homeostasis, the brain can more easily respond to mental demands and perform cognitive tasks with less stress and fatigue.

For Students, Seniors and Professionals?
Researchers suggest that Magnesium L-Threonate could revolutionize the field of mental nourishment and help everyone achieve and maintain optimum cognitive function at every stage of life. One scientist we spoke to says it helps her perform complex critical thinking and maintain focus while drafting papers during those difficult times of the day when she usually struggles with fatigue and wayward thoughts. Students cramming for exams may find the same support. She also suggests that people whose occupations require prolonged concentration and attention—like executives and professionals, for instance—may benefit from Magnesium L-Threonate. Preliminary studies in aging animal models have shown that Magnesium L-Threonate helps revive cognitive functioning. Follow-up research is focusing on this area, with a variety of planned and in-progress human studies designed to determine if Magnesium L-Threonate might impact specific age-related challenges.

If you know you have a memory problem, if it helps, write things down as you do it. Especially if it is important.

My hubby and I too, sometimes forget things too and then blame each other.

So we all experience memory problems from time to time, it doesn't necessarily mean that we have dementia or Altzheimer's.

As for your emails, you could change your password, but write it down somewhere in case you forget it, but don't tell your husband.  That way you will know he will not be able to access your email account.

I got locked out of my store credit card account the other day, because I couldn't remember the details, because I hadn't written them down.

Best wishes.

I would go see your doctor for a check up. It could be thyroid, vitamin D or other things that are off - it can be amazing that something like that can throw a person for a loop.

I know first hand that hormones can zap a brain into oblivion (I had two pituitary tumors, several thyroid tumors, and I am now panhypopituitary - no functioning endocrine system) so it is good to get checked up. Get copies too as that way you can track changes and progress.

try and be more awear of things you do and say that way you will know you did not do that . sometimes my hubby will do something and he will say i did it, but if i think back i can remenber that he did it not me and than he will say oh yeah. so my hubby forgets he did it sometimes, thats normal, but i to worry about alz so it bothers me until i figure out what happen.

i say keep head up , live each day and try to learn something each day use your brain and just beawaer of things going on around you ,  if your stressed your brain goes in fast motion and its hard to remenber things so slow down and try to be calm.  Heart
