About how long does it take for Methotrexate to leave a person's system?

by Kevin C, Nov 02, 2005 12:00AM
Assuming my liver and all other functions are normal, about how long after stopping Methotrexate is it safe to drink alcohol?   Would it be one to two weeks or do you think it should be a longer period?  Kevin C

The half-life of methotrexate is about 12 hours.  It should leave the system within 1-2 days.

The decision of whether to drink alcohol after methotrexate should be made in conjunction with your personal physician.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
