Bone Density scan

I had 3 Bone density scans done in last 6 years, and the last one which was on Friday came back showing:

Left proximal femur, the lowest score is obtained in the femoral neck. The BMD of this region is 1.134 gm/cm2 with a T-score of 1.3.Between examiniations, there has been a significant increase in the total hip BMD (.0.019 gm/cm2)

Then it says: Based on the lowest T-score, the diagnostic category if : Normal (T-score >-2.5).

Conclusion: 37 yr old female with a bone density just above the osteopenic range. Treatment with calcium supplements aqnd Vit D is recommend. The bone mineral density has increased in the left hip region since previous study. A floow up BMD stduy should be performed.

So having said all of that, is there anyone out there that can relate?? Or offer any info about this? I knew I was in a category for Osteopenia, but why does it say Normal (T-score >-2.5)...I thought anything that was negative and greater than 1 was not good...

Any help please...

Thanks
Haljas

My understanding of osteopenia is that diagnosis is kind of fluid - one doctor may look at it and say "keep doing what you're doing". Another one might prescribe something to get you higher in the normal range.

The good news is your density has increased in one hip, so that's a good trend, right? What does your doctor recommend? Perhaps an increase in weight-bearing exercise and calcium/vit. D?
