Can someone help me? I don't know what I have

Hi people,

I don't know where to post this question, so I'm trying it here.

For a week now I feel pain in my joints. It started last week on my ring finger. I thought it was normal cause I have the habit of cracking my knuckles. In the following days more finger started giving the same pain. A week later, and i feel my wrists, elbow and knees.

I don't know how to describe the pain...it's pretty mild and is not constant. The pain is there for a maximum of 20 seconds before fading away. the pain does not occur all at once in every place. It might be in the finger, half a hour later in my right wrist, then later the other wrist, then another finger...and whole day long. Most of the time i don't feel anything at all, but when it comes it does not hurt that bad, but it is noticable. There is no swelling, my joints are not red etc.

At first i thought it could have been from an hiv infection (cause i had a sore throat that lasted till one day before the joint pain started, had a low grade fever (37.6) for just one evening, felt tired). People there told me that I had no risk, and I believe them. The sore throat, fever and tiredness I can relate to a regular flu. But all those other symtpoms are gone, yet the joint aches, or better said joint discomforts are here for a week and don't seem to be getting better.

Maybe on of you guys knows what might be the cause for this? I'd appreciate every help I can get.

Alen

Is this something regular? Maybe I've always had it, but never paid attention to it. I don't know.

don't you hate when a Dr doesn't know something and is lazy they just chalk it up to something general and common. I mean I don't think there is any reason for you to panic or to think you have anything serious but it would nice to know for sure right? I'm sorry about the Uti's , they are a pain in the ***, well actually a pain somewhere else but enough with the puns. ! lol Have a Happy Day!

well i went and i told my doc he said ( in his own words ) it doesnt sound like you have any major  arthritis like rhuematoid  or anything and at this point i wouldnt worry about it but he did put down on my send home sheet the yellow /pink copy u get in the diagnosis codes  , arthralgia . what ever that means lol anyways i went cause i was urinating blood this morning . and ive been having /getting  uti for the last 10 yrs now . i just got over one about 3 months ago  and now ive got another one. this time its a lil worse than the last one. they are doing a culture on my urine also . anyways he did also ask me does rhuematoid  or anything other arthritis run in yuor family i said yes my mother has some form of it i dont know if its rheum. or osteo . but it is a bone and joint disease . same with my grandmother. he said oh ok . and basically just left it at that . owell i guess if i keep having pain ill just keep taking naproxen or aleve until it gets really bad then ill go back to him and let him see for himself on what i was complaining about . no i dont see any red rashes or anything sometimes my knuckles will get a lil reddish but my wrist and knees just ache and sometimes hard to walk on the one knee ! like when i get up from sitting or walk for more than 45 mins or so maybe longer. or get really really cold .and it comes and goes and its not every day . it lasts for a few hrs then goes away . ive told this to my doc but he thinks it has to do with muscle not bones and joints lol !!!!

you totally sound like you have some form of arthritis and a simple blood test can get you well on your way to figuring out what kind. do you have any sort of rash accompanying the joint pain?

(my mom's mother ) i also noriced too in my daughter , her toes look very crooked , almost like she has extra joints or something and they turn to the left.  she is 11 y/o and she said they ache alot  and sometimes she says her fingers ache also .anyways  its probley some form of arthritis im pretty sure just dunno what kind . and i know i should go to the doc. also ive lost about half inch in height also in the past 10 years . dunno if thats due to getting old or what but i didnt think 30's was old at all . i would have thought maybe in your mid 40's is when you start to feel all this and your bones settle and all . anyways best of luck to ya balkenpower , hope u find out what it is !

STOP CRACKING YOUR JOINTS!!!!  Fun sound or not. dude listen I don't want to sound like a mom but come on son! When you crack your joints you loose valuable fluid and when you do it repeadedly for a long period of time, damage can occur. That "pop" you hear is your body trying to yell at you! Sheesh, it's a wonder you don't hurt worse. ( do you feel like a scolded little boy now? )

Hehe, hey babs:)

thank you for replying.
That might be a good idea. When i saw your question about when i exactly feel the pain i was like: I don't know...it's very random. It happens when i eat, also when i don't eat. When I waslk, but also when I'm lying in bed...And since two days i notice that I'm able tot pop my wrist, not on purpose, but sometimes it just pops. I love that sound (i crack my fingers all the time), but it's not what I'm used to:)

I'm gonna keep a journal, thank you for the tip:)

Hey Alen,

Have you noticed this discomfort at any specific times of day or after any specific activities? Does any food aggrivated it? Not sure what I'm trying to determine but I think if you keep a kind of journal of when you notice the pain and what you were doing when it happens maybe it can help you find out what it is. They tell you to do this sort of thing with a lot of problems maybe it will help you. Hope you are having a nice day and I am still rooting for ya! LOL See now there are two of us on your side!!!!!

Hi,

thank you for the response. I'm rooting for myself too:) Like i said, I might have always had it, cuz the pain is very slight, but noticable. Now that I'm paying attention to everything that goes on in my body (because of the hiv anxiety), and so maybe I'm overnoticing things.
