Hip pain and vitamin D.

Soooo, I found that hip pain can be cause by low vitamin D levels. I got a blood test and, lo and behold, I'm deficient.  Doc put me on 50,000 units a week for 8 weeks.  I am an RN and work for a hematologist. This is standard for some of the levels we treat.  The first day I took it, I had extra energy, but my hip pain is through the roof since.  It's been three days.  I can barely walk.  Anyone experience this?  I'm beginning to wonder why I am 57, look younger, and feel 80.  I try to take care of myself.  They tell me to exercise, but how can I when I have so much pain I can't bear weight some days?  ugh.

Hu Strondlady14. You did not mention what reactions you get from the vitamin D supplementation.

If you want to try it on your own, try sublingual emulsified D3 drops with K2
startind at 2 drops of 1000 IUs daily and gradually increasing to 8000 UIs
daily in 2 doses, if well tolerated.
Taken with food which contains some fat will increase absorption, as D3 is fat soluble.

Because vitamin D affects the G/I system negatively when deficient, it is possible you reacted to it and it would be a factor in IBS as well

The transdermal magnesium supplementation would be the best option,
as it totally bypasses the G/I and digestive systems.

Best wishes.

ok I seem to have very severe reactions to vit d and so does my sister. I was told my reading was so low it was equivalent to having none. I went to a Dr. and he put me on the usual 50,000ius of vit d . Within in 3 days I was totally lethargic in worse pain so bad my hubby almost called an ambulance. He then put done to 25,000 same thing, 5,000 same thing. I eventually stopped going to him cause he said I had to take them no matter what side effects I had. I too have read about taking magnesium but with me having bad IBS I just couldn't do it. I haven't tried with the vit k cause just so afraid after getting so horribly sick each time I tried. I too have limited money with living off of my hubbies retirement, we have insurance but the co-pays are killing us. I also have many other health issues. Ihave major issues with my spine. I will list it later very long. It took 24 procedures in my spine just so I could walk again. I also get severe cramping in my calves like my muscles are being ripped off and put back again. Tried Flexoril it did nothing. I just gave up cause it seemed like I got worse everytime I tried.

Alex, this was copied and pasted -entirely- from my own reply in this thread.

I take no offence whatsoever, however I'm curious. What is the idea?

My suggestion is that should you want to use someone else's suggestions & remarks in a different post, you should at least make mention of the contributor, or even better. research and study the subject further and  then compose it in your own words.

Cheers,
Niko

Vitamin D3 deficiency could be responsible for more than your hip pain.
It's a hormone which activates hundreds of genes in your body.
One important precaution to note when taking high vitamin D3 supplements.
In order for the calcium, metabolized by the D3, to  go to right places like joints, bones and teeth, instead of soft tissues-The last thing you want is calcified soft tissues- is vitamin K2. It has very specific calcium driver properties.

Hey Rita and Maddie-
Thank you for replying Rita, as this prompted me to go back to my post and realize that in describing how to make magnesium oil, I omitted the part that you mix Magnesium Chloride flakes with equal amount of water. If you are extra sensitive, dilute further.

Indeed Rita, that is the only ACV I purchase, with the mother, unfiltered and organic, by the gallon!

I'm so glad people are interested in what I say lol!, because I'm very aware
that most of my posts and explanations are quite lengthy, which could also be a deterrent.

Blessings to all!

No worries. I am very interested in what you say. I have already researched much of this and like to drink ACV with mother.  If anyone wants to know what that is, it is the sediment filtered out in regular vinegar.  It has many beneficial properties.

Hi Maddie.

No need to be sorry my dear. You remind me of Maria, a friend from the UK. Similar circumstances and demeanor.

ACV is apple cider vinegar.

Try to reduce simple carbs and sugars as much as possible!

Avoid nightshades like eggplant, peppers, potatoes, tomatoes.

Some people suffering from arthritis do better when they avoid citrus.

Gelatin taken for one month at 5 grams per 1/4 cup of water daily will offer you joint support for 6 months, as it helps in collagen production for building up  cartilage -keeping your joints well lubricated.

An alkaline diet-look it up online- will help fend-off serious conditions and degeneration.
An acidic body environment promotes illness and degeneration.
It also enhances pain perception.

Magnesium is a much needed mineral as we age. Starting in middle age
most people need more magnesium and less calcium.
It acts as a tissue softener and it helps in facilitating hundreds of processes in the body.
Because oral supplementation is very inefficient- only about 3-4 %-and
highly laxative in larger doses- transdermal magnesium oil is one of the best ways to supplement.
You can make your own by mixing it 50/50 with hot water in a glass bottle.
Once cooled you can transfer it to a spray bottle.
Basically you spray on your body, avoiding sensitive areas.
Leave on for 20-30 minutes and then shower .
For an added benefit, after I dry myself, I use a long handle natural bristle
brush and brush my body -I was told to always brush toward the heart-
for improved lymphatic circulation. Just as good as a lymphatic massage.
It feels fantastic!

Also try coconut oil in your cooking instead of cooking oils which may be promoting inflammation. Heated oils cause free radicals which lead to
oxidation, but not coconut oil. It is heat tolerant and with so many health benefits, like anti-viral, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, there's no wonder it's considered one of the top functional foods!
Look also into "Oil Pulling" with coconut oil for optimized oral and dental health and lower incidence of infections, which start from the oral cavity
(one of the main entry points of pathogens into the body).
I always buy virgin organic coconut oil.

My apologies to Rita it seems that we hijacked your thread, lol!
At least you may find some of this information useful.

I hope this helps.

Cheers,
Niko

Thank you so much for the above information.  You are really helpful.  Bless you.  Sorry but what is ACV?  Yes I do eat too many carbs.  I will cut down.  What is the best diet for arthritis?

4Maddie44, thank you for your positive comments!

You may want to try raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar, which is the best
(food) source of malic acid. Malic acid is a very vital component in the Krebs cycle (metabolic processes), which unfortunately is in rather short supply in the body as we age (1) and when we consume plenty of carbohydrates (2).
Tartaric acid is a muscle toxin and a malic acid antagonist, which by the way feeds off yeast metabolites which themselves feed off carbs.
So you see the connection? Carbs--> yeast--> Tartaric acid--> less Malic acid.
End result : Muscle and tissue toxicity and impaired metabolic processing.
Bad combination!

Reducing carb intake and consuming  1T of ACV prior to your 2 largest meals of the day, should help make a notable difference, but this regiment must be followed for at least 2-3 months in order to experience the full. benefits.

If I lived close to you I could help you with your needlephobia / hemophobia
as I use an integrated Hypnotherapy/EFT approach, but I'm like 5000 miles away, lol!

I have a plethora of natural remedies and protocols that really work (I'm a 3rd generation natural therapies & remedies  practitioner).
If you have any questions, I'm just a click away.

Cheers!

I am elderly and the arthritic pain is very bad at the moment, and like you painful to walk.  I have always loved walking but am so frustrated at the moment.  I found the Lightseekers information really interesting.  I take supplements but in small doses compared with what is recommended.  Now I cannot have a blood test as have an awful phobia about that and always pass out and get extremely anxious, so I won't be doing that.

I know exactly what you are saying about not wanting to move because of the pain.  Last year I had physio at hospital and do the exercises I was shown.  I know it is best to keep moving despite the pain.  I have had private treatment in the past, but now have no money for that.

Take care

Hey Rita, I replied to your message earlier today.

The other thing to respect is the calcium/magnesium balance.
As we age, even if some of us look younger (I also feel younger and I can hopefully help you feel younger too) ,we need more magnesium in our bodies.
The problem is that because of your low vitamin D status, it has likely affected your nutrient and mineral absorption- the G/I and digestive systems have most of the vitamin D receptors- so oral magnesium is
not going to do it. In addition to this, in the best of circumstances oral
magnesium has very poor efficiency and is very laxative properties!
I recommend transdermal magnesium oil treatment every other day, for
superior results and ... no issues! One of my favorite body treatments
Look it up or let me know if you need details.

One more thing. You are at risk of having low B12 when your D is low.
An MMA and  Homocysteine CSF test will verify a Methylocobalamin deficiency. You want this Neurological form of B12 to be at normal levels in your body, for optimum neurological function.
You can do a trail of methyolcobalamin sublingual drops, instead of the
tests.
Are you on D3 or D2? D3 is obviously the better choice.
I personally take D3 sublingual emusified drops.

Almost forgot, in case your levels or symptoms don't improve, you may have Vitamin D resistance. Low cholesterol, obesity and vitamin d resistance polymorphism are some of the main causes.
You would need very high levels of vit. D in order to compensate!
Have you levels checked out periodically.

Best wishes,
Niko
