I don't know if it's arthritis, but...

I have no idea if this is what my pain is related to but my right hip and leg have been in pain for the past two months.  I can't seem to straighten out my leg and when I've been sitting, lying down, or standing for any length of time, when I move again, the pain shoots through the upper part of my leg. It feels as though something needs cracked or popped, and sometimes there is a cracking sound.  Then for just a few brief minutes, it feels great.  But then the pain comes back again when I've been in the same position for a few minutes.  I can't walk like I used to because I can't straighten my leg! Any ideas?  I'm going to my regular physician for an annual checkup in a couple of weeks. But it's driving me crazy.  I exercise but it hurts to do so.....

I had never heard of an endocrinologyst myself. Had a hard time finding one locally. Everyone I spoke to told me they specialized in diabetis and thyroid which I could have had because of heredity ,but they also specialize in bone disease. The isfusion she wants to use is called zoledronic acid there is also another one you can read about them on google. They can be taken in a pill formula . She said the pill would be to hard on my stomach since I've had an ulcer before. From what I read the infusion can be once a year and takes about 20 or so minutes at a hospital, or clinic as an outpatient. Or every six months . Some are done every two weeks. I decided I'd rather go for once a year. I'm currently still waiting for insurance clearance. I guess it's quite expensive. It's supposed to strengthen bone loss. I'll let you know when they get started. She stated she had never seen CT scans with such bad bone loss. That I could have a spontaneous fracture at any time. Really scarry. So it has to be done ASAP. I take vitamins eat a well balanced diet and take additional calcium vitamins.  So I don't understand. cat33
