Ibuprofen and Arthritis

by justauntb2, Aug 12, 2009 09:29PM
I was taking Ibuprofen for years and the pain in my knees was intollerable and I was confined to a wheel chair. About a year ago I started taking 1400 IU of Vitamin D and stopped the ibuprofen totally, my arthritis was doing MUCH better, even started taking short walks, however, recently, I had an injury and started taking Ibuprofen.....now my knees hurt all the time.
Can Ibuprofen deplete vitamin D?

What dose of Vit D are you taking? I am at 1400 IUs

Hi,

I am on 50,000 iu's a week ... was on 100,000 iu's the first 6 weeks of Vit D being monitored.  They repeated $1,600 worth of bloodwork 2X to be certain it had nothing to do with my thyroid because of small thyroid cancer found and removed in '07 and I had a clean bill of health in that they think mine was from lack of sun since a Melanoma was removed, also, in '07 and a change of lifestyle styaying out of the sun and higher SPF sunscreen since then.  It's a double edged sword.

So a really good ? indeed .............. Can Anti-inflammatories deplete Vit. D ?
