Numbness after LRTI surgery.

I am 3 weeks post op after LRTI surgery. Everything seems to be going well except I have total numbness on one side of the incision which runs from the inside pad of my thumb all the way up the back side of my thumb to the nail. It is only on one side of the incision. Could the surgeon have severed a nerve? This is rather worrisome to me.
