What's this arm pain?

Hi.

I've had pain in my right arm and I don't know what it is from.  I'm right handed.  It is on the side when I turn my hand over and the palm is facing up. It is between the wrist and elbow, but closer to the elbow than the wrist.  It feels like a muscle ache. Is it carpel tunnel?  Arthritis? Or something different? Should I ask my doctor about it? What can I do at home to treat it? Thanks in advance.

Thanks. I rested it and the pain went away after 3 days.  It comes and goes but it hasn't happened since.  When I have the pain again, I'll see my family doctor.

If it's been going on for more than a week or two and nothing you've tried (rest, wrapping, over the counter analgesics) has worked, It may be time to have your doc have a look at it. My first thought is "tennis elbow", which is kind of a misnomer because people who don't play tennis get it. :)  All kinds of things cause pain in the tendons near the elbow - sports, repetitive stress, maybe a bone spur on the elbow. It's impossible to know until a doctor can look at it, feel what's going on while you're moving it, and probably take an x-ray.
