Pain and Numbness in Legs

What can cause numbness in the top part of your legs and pain feels like needles sometimes. I sometimes wake up in pain. It dont matter if i am laying on my back or sitting they are still numb.

i have a patch on my leg that has gone numb also and when i spoke to the doctor he didnt seem to know why i would have this and he dismissed it very quickly. Is there anything that it could be . i know my own body and i am sure that the numb patch is not normal. please give me some help ?

Hi and thanks for using the forum.  There are any number of things that can cause this symptom- anything from a pinched nerve, to a ciruculatory problem, to a chronic condition.  I think your first step should be to either your general practitioner or to a neurologist for an evaluation if this has been a frequent symptom that you have been experiencing.  They can order a few tests and hopefully get some answers for you.  Good Luck and take care,
