Vagina Itching

Hi there,

My vagina always itches.  Always.  I can't take it - I'm so tired of the pain that comes with it after scratching forever, sometimes to the point of blood.  It's not inside the vagina, it is the skin over the pubic bone and sometimes further back by the anus.  There is no odor, no discharge, sometimes bumps (but I think that is just a reaction to the scratching).  I think it's eczema (I also have eczema in my ears).  I don't know what to do.  I hate the burning and constant need to go somewhere private so I can scratch.  It's really annoying, please help!

As a fellow sufferer all the above advice is spot on for me but I'd just like to add from my own personal experience I have found that I can't use soap at all, I use aqueous cream to wash with. I also have to steer clear of all coloured toilet tissue and generally the bright white stuff too.

Hi and thanks for using the forum..

You really  need to see a dermatologist.  IF it is eczema, the he or she can let you know and can prescribe a cream/ointment to treat it.  If it is not eczema, you could try using a different soap.  SOme soaps are drying, you could try a non-perfumed moisturizing soap (something like DOve) and see if that makes a difference.  Another possibility would be your laundry detergent.  You could try using a dye free, fragrance free brand and see if that helps.  Finally, be sure to wear cotton underwear.  cotton is a breathable fabric and can keep moisture from developing and causing the skin to become sore.  Hope this helps.  Good luck.
