Hi, I'm new to the asthma thread, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this.
When I have an asthma attack, before I notice wheezing or impeded ability to breath I get a hot, itchy, swollen bump directly behind and under my chin bone. Its irritated enough to force me to take my inhaler.
When I take my inhaler (either xopenex, or symbicort) it makes this bump itch and tingle more, to the point where I scratch at it while I'm holding my breath. But it also relieves it after I am finished taking my inhaler. This has happened for almost 20 years. If I stretch my chin out and push my tongue to the base of my mouth while holding the inhaler in my lungs, it intensifies the itching while I'm taking the medicine, but pushing my chin out also more permanently releaves the swelling and itching of this bump.
I just googled to see if there is a lymphnode right there, and apparently there is. Does anybody else experience this intense itchy swelling? I assume its not significant enough to tell the doc, since its been going on for 20 years with no problems. I just wondered if I'm completely weird, or if other people have this bump that signals an attack before you notice any other symptoms. (I forgot to mention that if I ignore the bump then I, within hours or minutes will develop a loss of breathing capacity and eventually wheezing). Thanks for any experiences u can share.
