Interesting. My WBC has always been on the higher side and even high a couple of times. I haven't heard about mild bone marrow suppression in CFS patients, but I do know that viral infections and even immunosuppression can also cause a low WBC.
Dr. Bell (my CFS specialist) just told me that the low white blood cell count is very frequent in CFS and is presumed to be due to mild bone marrow suppression but no one knows for sure. Over the years, he has never seen a complication from the low white blood cell count in his CFS patients.
Have your physicians given you any explanation as to why you have a low WBC ? I know this has been going on for awhile now, right ?
On my lab ranges, white count is normal at 3.11. It just depends on which labs your doctor uses.
My white count is always low. It was 2.1 but just went up to 2.9.
Normally a white blood cell count of 4.1 is within normal range. The normal range is usually 4.0-10.0 --- but check with your physician or look at your lab results and see if that is correct. Some labs may use a different methology.
