It sounds like you are taking care of things and being your own advocate which we all have to do with these diseases. Please let me know what your doctor says. I will be thinking about you.
God Bless,
Joni
Thanks for you reponse. I have arthritis type symptons - pain in my finger joints and some muscle pain. My father has arthritis. The doctor, who is not my regular doctor, did not explain anything. His office just faxed the blood results to me and I am still waiting for an opportunity to speak with him. Yesterday, I faxed the blood results to my regular doctor, an interninst/cardiologist. He left me a phone message not to worry and said that he would speak with me today.

That was a good doctor you went to and it sounds like he did more than most to check out your health condition. Be grateful you found him.
It sounds as though you have something autoimmune going on but then again there are some people who have a positive ANA and do not have an autoimmune disease or maybe do not have any symptoms yet. You may never have symptoms, who knows. If you goole ANA you can read all about it. There are so many different autoimmune diseases and which one you have if you even have one depends on the results of other test and your symptoms. Are you having fatigue or joint pain or anything? I don't believe it could be caused by a cough. ANA is antinuclear antibodies and the normal number is 1:40 or below. Mine has been 1:1280 for the last year and a half and I have lupus. I don't want to scare you because like I said there are people who have a positive ANA and never get sick. Please tell me if you have any other symptoms. There are a lot of great people here on this forum and we will be happy to help and support you as much as we can. Oh and by the way, how did your doctor explain the ANA to you and what was his recomendation?
God Bless,
Joni
