Please help my cousin with answers. SO Desperate

My teenage old cousin recently developed an autoimmune disease. She's had a very restrictive diet lately and is avoiding all dairy/high protein food products to feel OK. Unfortunately, the doctors have still not diagnosed the condition.

She's been a very healthy girl all her life till this past summer. She recently fainted and I can't imagine why this is happening to her right now. I'm in the process of getting more information about her symptoms but I thought an early start here would help. She has some joint pain and is basically restricted to very few meals or else she feels weak.

Please help.

I am so sorry that your cousin is going through such a hard time right now.  I am new to this forum but I will try and help if I can.

For years I have suffered many neurological symptoms and been through numerous tests without any sort of diganosis.  I was even hospitalized over a year ago for passing out but still I didin't get any answers.  Finally this past month after going back to my dr and having more tests she diagnosed me with antiphospholipid syndrome (aps for short).  It is an autoimmune disease that causes bloodclots and it has numerous symptoms from neurological symptoms to gastro problems.  I am not saying that is what your cousin has but alot of dr's don't check for APS so she may want to ask her dr about it.

Good Luck I hope your cousin finds some answers soon.

Hi it is very common for patients with Auto immune disease to feel weak because of the disease. In addition to the miserable feeling, we feel confused without a proper diagnosis.

I clearly remember feeling frustrated that each specialist said that there is something happening BUT you don't fit into any specific disease!

Just patiently bear with the journey and support your cousin because it does take a while before an autoimmune disease settles into one pattern and only then doctors can make a confirmed diagnosis. I went thru two yrs
