When I was looking for a mattress, I tried the Temperpedic (just in the store) and my back immediately hurt. I tried to lay there for a while but couldn't stand it. I have heard others say that once they "sunk" down into the mattress, they had a hard time rolling into another position.
I have a close friend that has the Sleep Number bed and absolutely loves it. Before you buy either, see if you can return the mattress after 30 days if it doesn't work for you. Hope it works for you, good luck.
We've been looking at the Temperpedic and will probably buy it but man does it cost some coin. Before I sink that dough I sure wish I was convinced I'll like or that it will help with my back issues. Thanks for all the input.
I tried the temperpedic pillow but it was also too firm for me and kept my head elevated too high.
Please post again after you have tried it out because I myself have been very curious about it. That and the sleep number bed. I did lay on one at the store and it felt pretty comfortable but sleeping on it all night is a different story. Let us know the outcome.

Thanks amoski. I think we're going to buy one this weekend because we're also tired of the sagging mattress syndrome and I'm looking for some pain relief help from the mattress. Thanks again for the thoughts.
I have had back pain for years, and we bought the temperpedic about a year ago and I was doing well with it until my back pain took a turn for the worse. I'm not saying my back pain increase was due to the bed at all, but b/c it's SO firm it was just too uncomfortable for me. I had back surgery recently (3 days ago) and cannot lie on it at this point. We bought the bed b/c we were so G.D. tired of shelving out large amts of $$$ every 3-4 years due to a saggy mattress.
So....if you like a firm mattress...I would recommend it.
