I have an annular tear and as far as I know there is nothing they can do for it. Whatever leaks out causes nerve pain because it is an irritant to the nerve. It can close up somehow on it's own but I read at any time it could tear again and leak to irritate the nerves again. That is all I know about it. I was told the same thing about mine.
Chadry
I had an annular as well. However, I had surgery and my surgeon said, "we did the right thing, you had a huge annular tear" - I still don't know what he did with the annular tear while he was in there. He said after chipping at the vertebrae that it came spilling out. He removed disc fragments that were on my nerve, but also took care of that tear. I was not able to ask him about this during my post-op visit, but will make sure I address this when I go back on the 21st because so many of you are suffering from the same thing. All I know is that I no longer have that "pulling" and "holding me back" time bomb in my back - I have no leg pain at all, but am sure that is because the disc fragments have been removed.
THAT IS SOME GOOD NEWS,HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU...THANK'S
Hi -
What sort of doctor told you "there's nothing that can be done about it"? I had the same thing said to me by a neurosurgeon. However, my surgery was done by an orthopaedic surgeon. I know that Chadry above is going through workman's comp for her treatment, (I believe very little of what they say to people). I will let you know what I find out. Keep faith!
Cheers!
still waiting of what you found out !!
