Hi there,
I was diagnosed with Chricopharengeal muscle dysfunction and that also involves the voice box (larynx/pharynx) and I was prescribed 20mg Amitriptyline and 5mg Diazapam.
I could not take the medication and function normally during the day, so I am no longer taking it and had some other treatments.
A Speech Pathologist gave me some very useful exercises to do and that improved my voice quality and vocal cord dysfunction.
You may find it very useful to get a referral to see a Speech Pathologist.
Thanks! I am glad you found the answer useful!
Dear Dr. Mathur,
Thanks for your prompt advice. You are providing a very delicate service to the community indeed. I wish I could thank you in person for your kindness. None of the discussions inhere on about Amitriptyline had previously indicated it being prescribed for vocal chords disfunction and hoarseness of voice.
Best Regards;
Khajatailor
Hi!
Well, low dose amitriptyline is often used to treat hoarseness, loss of voice due to vocal cord dysfunction. This could be the reason the drug has been prescribed in your case. If in doubt, please ask your doctor. Hope this helps. Take care!
