People on this site are from many different countries. I am in the US and we have SSDI (Social Security Disability Income) not ODSP. Only someone from your country would be able to tell you the information you seek. I suggest that you look at the website for your disability program. If addiction is not considered a disability or is a disqualifying status then I definitely would not take it. But, from others with experience, it sounds like it isn't a good idea anyway.
Yeah I am a recovering addict and I would strongly question that any credible dr would put you on that. It will make the depression worse. Take it from someone who has six years experience of being on opiates and being bipolar. I am sorry, I am very discouraged by this dr. Opioids are the WRONG answer for anyone but for a bipolar person it can be deadly. If you are not telling us about an addiction problem that you have please feel safe and free to do so. If you do have an addiction problem it would be easier for me to help but regardless, not no but He!! no on the Methadone. Please take this advise seriously. I have already walked that road and it is filled with mines. I was lucky to make it to the other end, you may not be.
Please come back and talk to us. No matter the situation or the choice you make I promise we will never turn you away.
I don't know why you'd want methadone. It's a synthetic opioid prescribed by doctors to help people stop their opiate addiction. It's not an anti-depressant. You'll want something from that class of drugs, not methadone.
