Period is 2 days late. but have cramps...

Hello everyone

I think i am just really stressing myself out about all of this and it could be the cause for my delayed period. But i just wanted some advice or any experience. Basically my period was due on the 21st/22nd Jan (1-2 days ago) but since the 20th i have had lower abominal cramping as though my period should be starting, but nothing has come. I've been with my boyfriend for 6 months and we always use condoms. I've not been able to use the pill as i had to have a heart procedure to cure an issue there. but i am now hoping to start the pill. However my period being delayed has made me feel anxious about being pregnant and i keep reading about pains in early pregnancy.
Am i just getting myself worked up? We have never not used a condom and have always checked that the condoms are ok after use, so there has not been any breakages.
My cycle can last anywhere from 30 -35 days and my period usually lasts about 5 days. Do you think i should just wait another few days before i panic?

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hello,
If you have used the condoms without fail then chances of pregnancy are less. The delayed periods can be due toreasons other than pregnancy. If you are apprehensive regarding the status of your wife’s pregnancy then you can test for it. There are sensitive urine and serum pregnancy tests which can detect hcg levels as low as 20 Miu for urine and 5 Miu for serum hcg test, as early as 8 to 12 days post ovulation. These are highly sensitive tests. The results can be confirmed by a pelvic ultrasonogram to visualize the intrauterine gestational sac and a positive fetal heart sound.

I’ll also suggest you an obstetric ultrasonography, which can pick up the pregnancy in the first 4 ½ weeks of pregnancy.
It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care and please do keep me posted on how you are doing.
