Is this a possible blood clot?

I have a blood disease called Factor 5 Leiden and also antiphospholipid syndrome.  I have history of 1 Pulmonary embolism and 1 stroke.  I am in and out of hospitals and sometimes they tell me I'm ok, I just have to go in and check because they aren't sure if my coumedin is working.  I have a hard spot on my arm, it might be a tad bit swollen or it might be me seeing things.  It's painful like my arm is just about to break.  It doesn't itch but it has a weird sensation.  It's in my right arm which has nerve damage.  It's not red or warm.  Could this be a blood clot?

Hi there. Since you have anti phospholipid syndrome you have a tendency to form clots in blood vessels. You have had an episode of pulmonary embolism and stroke most likely also due to a clot dislodged from the deep veins in the legs. So this swelling in the arm could well be a clot in the first place and then other things to be considered. Moreover also since your anti coagulant is not reliably keeping your coagulation under check. Visit your rheumatologist immediately and get yourself checked before this gets dislodged and travels to a vital organ and jeopardizing the function. Your anticoagulation needs a serious revaluation keeping the INR between 2 and 3.
Please do the needful. Take care.

Hi,
Ask the doctor to do a D-Dimer blood test, to check for clot.
Also have a arm scan to check for clot also , along with the D-Dimer bloodtest.

Hope this helps.
I have APS, also so i know just what you are going through, and it can be rough sometimes.
It can be hard to distinguish, when there can be a serious problem underlying, but i would have this checked out, just to be on the safe side.

Good Luck
Nicola
