iron deficiency and ovary removal surgery

I am scheduled for an ovarian removal on June 9th. I am concerned about it not because of the hormonal effects but because I have microcytic anemia. Currently I am doing iron infusions. My question is will I have to do iron infusions again because of the possible amount of blood loss I my have?

Thank you for the advice. Having not had a major surgery since I was 7, I had no experience with blood lose.

I think it unlikely anyone on this forum (Community) will have the experience.  You might want to try posting on one of the other Communities addressing female issues.  See "Forums" pull-down menu at the top of the page.

That said I can tell you I underwent open heart surgery a number of years ago and that involves use of the Heart Lung machine, and my surgeon did not require any supplementary blood.  He said before surgery that he is able to control bleeding sufficiently that the patient doesn't need a transfusion.  I asked before surgery in the contest of getting some of my blood on hand to use if needed.  He didn't want to take any blood donations from me so soon before surgery - which best I can recall was several weeks after we had that discussion.

OF course, you doctor is the best source for an answer.

Wishing you a fast and easy recovery,,
