We all have stuff going on. My dad and uncle passed from cancerous brain tumors. My cousin so far is surviving his, knock wood. I am just trying to help other as best I can.

Staging will tell the docs how much the tumor has spread. The doc will use that to determine treatment. You will not feel well for treatment and will need help yourself and will not be able to help your friend for a while.

Alas, as those things happen, you have to learn a new body part. I keep telling my hubby that he should go to med school... that knowing me, he is about 3 years ahead!

The reason why they want to set you up for chemical stuff is that they want to prevent it from growing back. But the chemical stuff can be nasty, but better than the tumor...

Once they stage it in the pathology, they and you will have a better idea of what is going on.

Steroids are evil as far as I am concerned but they help out a bit when you don't want your brain to swell up - too bad they mess up the rest of your body and your mind!

It will all depend on the biopsy or the pathology - depending on if they just go ahead and remove it, or just biopsy it, depending on how difficult it is to remove.

Since you are having symptoms as you are, they have to determine the type of tumor it is, and how to treat it - and since it looks like surgery first, then you will have to heal from that.
You will need someone around to help you deal with the healing. Usually there is swelling after surgery so they give you meds for that and anti-seizure. Depending on the nature of the tumor, you then may have to have chemo or radiation. That is why he is saying it would be a long journey as those take a long time.

Did he happen to say what kind of tumor he thinks it is?
