Update on Surgery

I had my tumor removed on August 3rd.  The surgery last about 3-4 hours and everything went well.  The recovery is very uncomfortable but it get's better everyday.  My surgeon came by to see me a few days after surgery while I was still in the hospital and said all my tests looked good.  My prolactin level was now back down where it is supposed to be.  I'll be at home a few weeks but I'm really glad I went with the surgery. I go back for post-op on September 3rd.

K - glad you are doing well.

L - up to 40% of lesions do not show up on MRIs. Are yours dynamic, with and without contrast, on a 3T machine, at a pituitary center? If not, go to a better place and while you are at it, get another doctor. There are other meds to take as well, other choices. Are you seeing a neuro-endo and a neuro-opthomologist?

I am happy to hear of you surgery success. I have an increased prolactin level since 2001 and no one can detect a pituitary lesion/tumor. I experience problems with what the docs say are anxiety related. I also recently was told that my occular nerves show damage in both eyes from intraoccular pressure. I have experienced extreme headaches and my doc sent me for a MRI but all came back WNL. However, I still have increased prolactin and I did have a baby in 2003, and the galactorrhea has not stopped since breastfeeding. I also have problems that appear as anxiety to docs and all of my test routine blood workup and the docs just act like it's in my head I went to an endo in calif. before moving out of state, and on my first visit to him he prescribed bromocriptine, which has a lot of side effects. The endo was also in his last week at the medical group and did not know who would be following up with me if I had questions or some adverse reation to the med so I didn't take it. The MRI was done in the state I reside in now and, I have not seen the report, the doc just told me that it was normal so stop worrying. UH NO!  I am a mom of  a young child and I want to be around God permit for me to see him grow up. And I am pretty frustrated with all the docs that I have seen making this out to be nothing to worry about. Please respond. Thanks
