fluid built up under scalp and ear drum in pain

i have been sick for 4 days and feel awful. it started with the spot in my scar and the tenderness on my whole left side of my head. i woke up thursday and my left eye was swelling and the pain was so bad i couldent brush or touch my hair on my left side . i go to the er and the doc said it looked as if i had a staple left under the scalp and i had fluid built up under my scalp and behind my ear drum. i asked him to look where the scabs were in my scar and try to find whatever it was. he refused and i scratched the scab off and it ozzed and he told me i needed to call my neurosurgeon now it was to complacated for him. he gave me antibotics for my ear but the pain is still sever. my neurosurgeon told me he has looked before and nothings there ,i had him look last appt. i was told to see my family doc and take my antibotics. how serious is fluid under the scalp? my pain has spread to my jaw and im so weak and feel as if my limbs weigh a ton. i feel as if im upside down under water so confused . my next mri and whats my next line of treatment is the 7 next month. if this is still going on how will this effect my mri? he wont tell me my lab resluts over the phone so i dont know how those are. im getting very worried about my health now. my family doctor told me to take antibotics and go to er if my headaches get worse ,so no help there. i feel this is serious am i just parinoid?? thanks for all your support and advice.

Sounds like a nasty infection.  I would also go see an infectious disease guy maybe to see if they need to take swaps to make sure you don't have a staph infection. I know it took me forever to heal after surgery.

Yes, you are entitled to copies of everything they do. Just ask for them. I'm glad the antibiotics are starting to help. Don't tear the scab off!  It will take longer to heal and you risk infection.
I'm glad to hear you're seeing a seizure specialist!  But what do you mean, you have a long, hard week ahead? You shouldn't push yourself! Just rest, as much as you can.

Let us know what your seizure doc says. Now go have a nap.

hi enzymelover, good to hear from you to. the thing is i just had sticthes. i never had staples and my neurosurgeons nurse took the sticthes out. i had found and removed 2 or 3 over the first year. i swear if i could see the spots i would dig them out myself. the spots get red and swell at one time i could feel something that felt like a sticth . i have went threw so many family doctors they hear all my problems and tell me im depressed and its just anexity and wont treat me and waste my time and money. the antibotics are helping some my gums are starting to go down . if i tear the scab off my scar i can press and make it ozz out. can i get copys of my visit at the er? i had 3 seizures in 24hrs and had a ct scan do they give copys of those? im gona try because i go to a seizure spealist next week .i praying i feel better before i got a busy long hard week next week. thanks for your help and advice.

Hi!  Good to hear from you. That swelling sounds terrible! Why can't you get a break?
The ER doc probably should have removed the staple, if at all possible, and written a report for the neurosurgeon, who thinks there's nothing there.
Are the antibiotics helping at all? If this is a serious infection, you can't wait till Oct. 7 to see a doc. You may need a different antibiotic. Go back to your family doc tomorrow if you're not a whole lot better. Pester him for better treatment. Maybe you need a shunt to drain the fluid.
