Keep us posted. It can take a while before hormones get smoothed out.
I'm not panhypo -- but I do now have central hypothyroidism and am feeling a LOT better on synthroid. Hair is still shedding a bit after 10 weeks but the fatigue is better and the wicked constipation is better. Wild ride getting this straightened out!
That is great news. It shows the medication is working well.
Work with your doc after a while, say in a year or two and your tumor is tiny, to taper your dose back a bit. You should not ever go off totally without supervision as that puppy will come back, but you may be able to reduce a bit with monitoring as long as you make sure symptoms are not coming back and nothing is growing.
The whole secret is to keep monitoring! I am 12 years out, I still monitor. Some will reach a nice, steady period fairly early on. I buck that trend so I am always changing something - but I am panhypopit.
Results show tumor was 7x6x6 mm and now 4x5x5 mm. The pituitary stalk is now no longer deviated. This was great news after 6 months of cabergoline and all those side effects!!
Thanks for the input. I had labs last week and my prolactin level is 7! Great news. Even if the tumor has not shrunk at least the levels are down and I'm feeling better without the incessant galactorrhea.
Able to drop a few pounds now too!
I hope you have a tiny tumor - and that is has shrunk away. I only took the meds a short time as the docs thought I had an incidentaloma - aka a blow off.
Talk to your doc and/or pharmacist re side effects. It may be that they may diminish over time or there may be some way to help them with dosing times or with food that can help. Make sure you ask.
Keep us posted on your progress!
Trying to be +. I do envision the cabergoline headaches as pain from tumor shrinking. May be fantasy but mind over matter!!
People vary... it is great though that your levels decreased so fast! Also keep in mind that MRIs can vary, and the slices are 3mm, and so I found that my tumor changed size just from that. So you will need to show reduction over time. It should happen (90% of the people have good results from the meds).
You will still have to stay on the meds long term (most likely) to keep the tumor in check.
