Normal scans can be... misleading. There are stats that up to 40% are missed - the better techniques and better scanners and helping some.
Yeah- I know how that feels- good news on one hand, but on the other hand left without the answer. You're welcome and I hope you and your son can get to the bottom of his symptoms!
Well, I'm happy for you! Sometimes tiny cysts are missed, so there might still be something there. I hope your doctors will focus on what is causing your son's symptoms and get to the source of his trouble. He probably needs more hormone testing.
Well, I apparently don't know anything about an MRI. His results were normal. I'm very thankful, but still left with many unanswered questions. Hopefully, all the blood work will give some answers. Thanks, everyone, for the advice and support.

I would call Monday. They usually have the radiologists report within a few days.

I have been able to see all my film done anywhere except at one radiology place - there cds do not work in a pc or mac. The cds do not work in macs at all (grrrr) so I have to use my hubby's computer to read the things. Every program is different in how you access it - some pop up, some you have to go and click on something. Navigating is another nightmare - some are easy, some hard - some will let you copy pics, some will not.
Get a doctor (who knows) to walk you through a few films - then you can at least learn a few anatomical markers and figure out where stuff is, like the carotids and the sella.
WHEN I HAD MY MRI BACK IN 2009 THE DOC HAD RTO LOG INTO A SPECIAL PROGRAM TO VIEW THEM. what pissed me off was i calle deveryday for 3 weeks and he never told me till the 3rd week, despite having them a day after my mri
Well, from a recent experience I had with a TMJ MRI and a maxillofacial specialist telling me something, I might have a clue about the weirdness there- the doctor I saw said a regular computer wouldn't give him the full access to the CD that a special radiology computer would he had at another location, so he said he wouldn't be able to tell anything using a computer at the office he was at. I said I tried looking at home, but of course didn't know what I was looking at.
It did seem to me like some pictures may have been missing on the MRI disc I was looking at, so maybe they are hampering patients from being able to have full access to the pics on the discs now?
Most doctors cannot read the films - so they have to wait for the report.
Very very weird that there are only 5 pictures on the disk - I get my full MRIs on all my prints and a blow up on my pit area.
Your doc should have the results in 24 to 48 hours.
usually your average primary care doctor, such as his pediatrician, won't know how to read an MRI, I believe. They rely on the radiologist's report. Did you get a hold of the radiology department, mom of Jonah?
Wow, you are really on the ball with this! I hope your son is feeling well. I would take the CD in to the doc asap, to hear his opinion. The radiologist's written report is important to help with the diagnosis though, and the doc may want to wait for this before seeing the CD. If the report says there's something there, it would be best to speak with a neurosurgeon to get the diagnosis confirmed.
I'd call the radiology department, tell them when your son had the MRI and ask how long before your doctor should have the results.
