What are the outcomes of using gamma knife on a tumor?

My daughter in law has had 3 tumors removed already and was left with some problems with speech, walking, seeing. Now a new tumor has been found deep in the brain. It is inoperable, but using a gamma knife on it has been suggested. Right now nothing is being done until the doctors see the films of her former tumors. They were not cancerous, so the doctors want to know more about her before beginning treatment. What is a gamma knife and how successful is this in treating brain tumors?

Hi, wow that just sounds really tough and again I am sorry to hear what she is going thru. Iwill say a prayer for her. There is one other community to try. Its the Brain tumor forum but I've noticed that the doctor does not answer questions very often but you may get some answers from the community.

My grandfather had a meningioma a number of years back. I understand the stress and worry that comes with these. My prayers are with you and your daughter.

Thank you for the information you gave me. I am new to this site.  I didn't know there was a neurology community. I will definitely check this out. I don't know what kind of tumor Kathy has, but I don't believe it is a pituitary tumor. I will have to ask her the name of it. I do know the tumors appeared with each pregnancy. She nearly lost her life with the last tumor removal, so after that there were no more babies. Now this one has shown up 15 years later and is not a regrowth of the former ones. It is still a mystery until the doctors have it all put together and decide on treatment, if any.

Hopefully, someone can come along and answer your question. If not you might try posting this in the "expert community for neurology" and a doctor will answer your question. I'm sorry to hear what your daughter in law is going thru. Is it a pituitary tumor or other type of tumor?
