Perfusion CTs are for strokes so your CT was a normal CT.
You were not even in the machine for a long time which is typical. Your risk should be really low.
You can consult your doctor if you have any questions but based on the information that I can find, you should be fine.

The contrast they give you makes you feel warm - it often makes you feel like your bladder is full all of a sudden or that you need to go - and then it passes. The CT contrast is iodine based - and is more of an issue to your thyroid than any other organ in your body. If you have a healthy thyroid to clear out the iodine, then you should be fine.

The levels of a properly maintained CT scan are fairly low.
Here is a link to a chart with radiation levels:
http://www.radiologyinfo.org/en/safety/index.cfm?pg=sfty_xray

There is radiation all around us and you are exposed with sun and even with flying.

The perfusion CT which was noted to have problems is a certain technique and not a regular CT. Did your doctor order a perfusion CT? It is a protocol (a method) and not used for everyone.

How long were you in the machine?

That risk has been known. Are you going to stop flying - do you realize that you are exposed to radiation every time you fly?

There are websites where you can calculate your risk by inputting the number of CT scans and tracking it.

You can also talk to a hospital radiologist.

I have had tons of CTs and angiograms, flown and all - but I have not developed brain cancer - and it runs in my family.

hii sorry to hear about your concerns, personally i think that is nonsense, whilst it is true that prolonged useage of a ct scan over many years can contribute to cancer but i would beleive that one scan can not cause cancer itself.

the study you have read is lacks in validity, in my opinion if a patient is in need of a ct scan for a tumour it already suggests they are already likely to develop one either due to previous cancer or genetics, so using a ct scan and later in life discovering a brain tumour does not indicate the cancer was caused by the machine.

there are various jobs were radiation exposure is greater than a ct scan such as atronauts and so far the rate of cancer in them is no different to that of an average person.

from personall experiance my mother had undergone many ct scans over her life due to cancer genetics and previous cancers so further cancer issues would almost certainly show that the ct scan had no part to play.

i hope after reading this you have a little peace of mind, however im sure someone with more knowledge will elaborate further.

thanks
