help me understand report

MRI:
1. Limited study secondary to moderate motion artifact.2. There is a subtle 10 mm ovoid enhancing lesion anterior to the frontal horn of the left lateral ventricle, with a moderate amount of adjacent vasogenic edema. The area of edema measures about 2.0 cm in maximal axial dimension. This correlates with the hypodense area described on CT head. This area is suspicious for a malignancy. Both primary and secondary malignant lesions should be considered in the differential diagnosis.3. Findings suggestive of mild chronic small vessel ischemic disease.

PET:
1. SMALL FOCAL MILD TO MODERATE UPTAKE IN THE LEFT ANTERIOR CORPUS CALLOSAL REGION, WORRISOME FOR MALIGNANCY.2. NONSPECIFIC FOCAL INTENSE UPTAKE IN THE SELLA, RAISING THE POSSIBILITY OF A PITUITARY MICROADENOMA.3. NO FDG AVID MALIGNANCY IN THE CHEST, ABDOMEN AND PELVIS.

My neuro wants to wait 3-4 weeks and repeat the MRI

It looks like you moved during the scan so it was hard for the radiologist to move. When you move, it creates *artifact* or weird dark or light places on the images which is what they are looking for, so they cannot tell if it was from you moving or if it was something there (my layman read).

That is why they want to wait and do it again, and I think hope you won't move again.

If you do have something on the pituitary, make sure you see a neuro-endo at a pituitary center. For the other lesions, a regular neurologist is fine who should send you on to a neuro-surgeon for an opinion (and they can read films very well. 10mm is the size of a pea, and has edema (a collection of fluid) next to it about the size of a small walnut. You have to find out why.

Do keep us posted.

That's plenty big and I would visit with a neurosurgeon ASAP. Take a copy of your study and let him/her study it.

If you have any issues in the mean time, just contact your Neuro ASAP and let them know

I had the tests for dizziness I was experiencing. My neuro said that due to location and its small size he wanted to wait  4 weeks and see if there are any changes such that would make it easier to biopsy. I cant get comfortable with idea of waiting

Did your neuro explain any of this to you at all?

What was the reason for wanting to wait 3- 4 weeks then repeat?

How long ago was the ctscan?

Is he wanting to see what changes occur in a 3 to 4 week period?

Do you have any symptoms or was this an incidental finding?

Sorry more questions than help

but honestly, your neuro is the best person to discuss these findings with.
