hyperprolactinaemia

hyperprolactinaemia

I saw the endocrinologist and he said i have hyperprolactineamia, my pro lactin levels were in the thousands but i cant remember exactly what he said.
i am currently waiting for a mri to see if i have a tumor or not
i am also taking risperidone which i no can cause you to produce too much pro lactin, my bp thinks its the medication thats causeing it but the endocrinologist said he felt my prolactin levels were too high to be medication and he suspects i probably have a tumor.

my eye sight is getting worse very quickly and i wonder if this would happen due to medication as i no this happens with the tumor pressing on the optic nerve.

Im hoping my gp is right and it my medication and i can be treated and get back to normal and hopefully re gain my sight, get rid of these terrible headaches and stop lactating also my memory is terrible.

has anyone had and experience with risperidone and high pro lactin levels or no if this would cause my sight to get worse? its like i have a cloud over my left eye and everything is blurry in both eyes

thanks Angie

Have you seen a neuro-opthomologist?
What strikes me first is that your eye issue does not strike me as what is usual for pituitary tumors which is a loss of periphereal vision. What you describe is more like cataracts.
You should get off the medication if you can as if you have a tumor as well, it would be aggravating it.
The thing is, levels are misleading - they do not tell you if you have a tumor or not really.
I had very low levels and had a tumor. I know others that have had much higher levels and did not. It just is not an indicator. That being said, do get the MRI - make sure it is with a without contrast, preferably dynamic (contrast during the MRI and pictures during the giving of contrast) as that gives you the best pictures and best is a 3T machine.
Even so up to 40% of them do not show up. Mine hid for 12 years.
