Im glad it wasnt painful for you. I had a small lump that was luckily very close to the skin. It didnt show up on the mammogram and so they did a sonogram, followed by a needle biopsy. That is weird it didnt show up on the first sonogram. I hope everything works out for you.
thanks, this means much to me as it gives support and assurance that everything will be fine.
To tell the truth, I am confused as ever. I went to the specialist on Monday to get a second opinion and he did confirm the lump in by breast and he refered me for an ultrasound scan as he said I am still young for a mamogramme. I went for a scan and it can back with report that everything is normal and that there is no lump in my breast...how is that possible because I can still fill it and the specialist felt it before the scan. When I returned the result of a scan to him he was as confused as I am and he did some test that is similar to the biosy, he injected a niddle in my breast where the lump is and he took a sample of the tissue and will send that for checking. I can tell you that when he injected that niddle it was not painful but the pain that I feel now is worse than before he did the test. I am hoping to get the result after 24 hours.
I am very confused and don't know what will be the next step from here, what if the test cames back normal, then what?, as I can still feel the lump and the pain is still there.
thanks again and kind regards
I was told I would feel nothing from my needle biopsy too, but I guess the tech did something wrong because it hurt and bled like crazy. It made a loud noise, like a staple gun and it felt like what I would think being shot would feel like. Not meaning to scare you, but just know it COULD hurt. That was one of the the scariest days of my life...
And Mond, it took 3 days to get my results...
hi i hope u dont mind me asking u a question im haveing a mannagram tommorow due 2a lump in my breast and iv got a biopsy booked 4the afternoon if need b how long do u think id have 2wait 4a result from the biopsy x mandy
Hello Mbalie: About 4 years ago I had a breast biopsy and the mere thought of it had me positively terrified, as I was afraid there would be a lot of pain and thinking about such a large needle was terrifying.
I have to tell you, the procedure was painless, and it surprised me. I was very scared and the staff was just absolutely terrific with me. They had music by James Taylor playing softly in the background and one of the doctors talked with me the whole time I was being set up in the equipment needed for the biopsy.
The had me sitting in such a way that I could not really see the needle. I felt a tiny ***** when an anesthetic was injected, but it wasn't bad. Actually, I had no idea the procedure had been completed, much less started when the doctor said, "Ok, we are finished."
I felt nothing, no *****, no pressure, no pain. I don't know if all biopsies are this painless, but mine certainly was. I hope that will ease your fears about having it done.
Your doctor will advise you about the mass, and go from there. Stay strong. Often times, these masses turn out to be calcifications or some other benign thing.
I wish you well.
Blessings
Hi there.
I understand your concern. The mass that was detected in your breast can have many causes including the most common for your age: fibroadenoma. Fibroadenomas usually appear during the height of hormonal stimulation coinciding with your menses but should abate after you had your menses. Depending on the results of the ultrasound, the doctor can recommend a biopsy. If the biopsy is equivocal, then he may recommend to have the mass removed. The biopsy may cause pain since there will be puncturing of the skin with a needle. The pain should disappear a few days after the procedure, and you may ask your doctor regarding pain medications.
Regards and God bless.
