IBC

Hi, I want to thank you for thie forum it is very helpful.  Now my question.  I wrote once before about the relationship between DCIS and IBC.  I had a rash that went away, my rad. oncologist said it was probably due to the painting I had been doing as it was in the breast that had been radiated.  The rash is back now, and I haven't been doing anything strenous.  Also I have had other symptoms such as tenderness, clear discharge from the nipple, swelling, itchy and redness.  These are not present all the time.  My question is should I ask for a biopsy to rule out IBC or any other form of cancer returning?  I have read accounts online where patients have had rashes come and go and finally are diagnosed with IBC and by then it has spread to other organs.

I also need to know would I go back to my rad oncologist, or should I make an appointmenr with my breast surgeon? (My reguular MD has quit practice)

Thank you for your help.

Dear ceegee:  As you now have symptoms in addition to an intermittent rash, it is reasonable to see a physician.  The surgeon would be the best person to see and evaluate and determine if a biopsy is needed.

I'd suggest seeing the surgeon: he/she would be most experienced in the physical exam of the breast, and in deciding whether biopsy is needed.
