Thickening of breast tissue

My daughter (49) has had breast thickening of upper outer sides of both her breasts for many, many  years.   This can be tender or change slightly according to time of month.   She did have it examined couple of years ago and was told everything was O.K. She did not have mamogram or ultrasound then.    Recently she went about HRT and mentioned the tenderness. this doctor sent her for tests of R breast only,   (I have also had this thickening when I was younger).  She then had to have biopsy as the radiologist said there was definitely something in that region.  She will not get biopsy result for three more days.   She is wondering what is the likelihood of  malignancy, percentagewise, in a case like this.  I hope you will try to enlighten her.   Thankyou

The waiting is terrible but unfortunately theonly way to know for sure is with a biopsy.  I wish you good luck.

Without the actual Radiology report or any indication as to what led the Dr. to order the Mammogram it's really impossible to venture a guess. Evidently after his clinical exam there was something felt that needed to be investigated further. A fair percentage of abnormaliies are found to be benign after biopsy. It's a waiting game and the waiting is the worst. Regards to you both .....
