I have had the same thing and thought it was just phantom itching. I am glad to know there may be a way to end it I have at times scratched the skin raw and still felt like I could not get the itch.

Hi there.

Itching in these areas, especially near folds of skin may have an infectious nature.  Skin infections common to these areas include fungal infection.  This can be recognized or diagnosed using a special smear called a KOH smear, wherein scrapings of the skin is analyzed under microscope to demonstrate fungal elements.

I suggest you discuss with your doctor about this test, and if indeed positive for fungus, topical anti-fungal creams may be the best treatment option.

Regards and God bless.
